Go-Go Girls: We Rate Lena Dunham's Modish Makeover

2012 has been a good one for Lena Dunham.

2012 has been a good one for Lena Dunham. Her hit HBO show Girls has gained cult-like status (has you seen the season two trailer?), she's scored herself a $3.5 million book deal and was nominated for an Emmy. And now she's gone a got herself a new look. We usually love Lena's low-key, fuss-free but interesting sense of style, but Entertainent Weekly has done the unexpected and given Hannah Lena a chic, Twiggy-inspired makeover for their latest issue. Floral-print shift dresses, pointy toed pumps and pea coats are a step up on the polished scale for the writer/director/actress, and we like it! Take a look inside and zoom in on Lena's new '60s style. Images courtesy of and Ruven Afanador and Entertainent Weekly.

Tyra Banks Works a Fierce Eye Look for I Love You Magazine

America's Next Top Model's Tyra Banks is on the latest cover of little-know German magazine I Love You sporting a bouffant up 'do and bright, graphic, eye makeup.

America's Next Top Model's Tyra Banks is on the latest cover of little-know German magazine I Love You sporting a bouffant up 'do and bright, graphic, eye makeup. Tyra's look is a combination of 1960s mod style à la Twiggy, with a thick black winged eye and chunky eyelashes painted along her lower lashline teamed with bold yellow eyeshadow, a trend seen all over the Spring '11 runways. While her cover girl combo may a little fierce for every day wear, try either trend on its own, ensuring you maintain a neutral makeup base and subtle lip.

A Nod to Mod: Abbey Lee Plays Twiggy in i-D Magazine

From Alexa Chung on the cover of October UK Harper's Bazaar, the red carpet with Evan Rachel Wood and Abbey Lee Kershaw in i-D magazine's A/W issue, the 1960s mod look is making a comeback.

From Alexa Chung on the cover of October UK Harper's Bazaar, the red carpet with Evan Rachel Wood and Abbey Lee Kershaw in i-D magazine's A/W issue, the 1960s mod look is making a comeback. Made popular by birthday girl Twiggy, pictured on the cover of British Vogue in 1967, the focal point of the makeup look is a chunky lower lash line, exaggerated with lashings of mascara. For i-D, Abbey Lee's has been taken one step further, with a thick kohl applied along the upper and lower lash line and false lashes applied in what looks to be tiny overlapping loops. It might be a tad too much for an everyday look, but would you try it?

Alexa Chung's BAZAAR-Off: Do Lips or Lashes Get Your Vote?

Currently in Australia to fulfil her 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty ambassador duties, Alexa Chung has snagged not one, but two Harper's BAZAAR October covers!

Currently in Australia to fulfil her 30 Days of Fashion and Beauty ambassador duties, Alexa Chung has snagged not one, but two Harper's BAZAAR October covers! Looking all sexy and Summery on the Australian edition, Alexa teams her smudged eye makeup with a red lip — a look she also whipped out for the event's opening night party in Sydney last night — but for the UK version, which was shot by Ellen von Unwerth, Alexa's look has a mod vibe to it with a chunky lower lash line — a look popularised by Twiggy in the '60s. Which look is your fave?

Twiggy, Elle, Janice, Tyra and Helena: Then and Now

In the 1990s, it was all about the "big six" models, an aesthetically-blessed group that consisted of top earners such as Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford. While a debate exists over who coined the term supermodel, Swedish model Lisa Fonssagrives, who was at the height of her career from the '30s through the '50s, is often credited as the world's first. But many models who came afterward earned the status. Check out what some of these famous faces looked like then, and see what they're up to now.

2011 A/W Milan Fashion Week: Gucci

Milan kicked off with a bang with the glamorous Gucci girls being given a high-shine deep red pout, teamed with super sleek, slicked-back strands.

Milan kicked off with a bang with the glamorous Gucci girls being given a high-shine deep red pout, teamed with super sleek, slicked-back strands. It was a dose of old school highly-polished glamour with furs being teamed with oversized felt fedoras. Pat McGrath was at the helm of the makeup team, giving models' skin a luxurious luminous look using Max Factor Xperience Foundation ($36.95). Luigi Mureno added a '70s touch to the hair by crimping and backcombing the low ponytails to create fuller texture. And yes, that's heavy mascara on the upper and lower lash lines. Twiggy is officially back. One of our favourite looks so far. You too?

Wowee Candice Swanepoel! One of the sweetest looking Victoria's Secret Angels has shaken off her sugar-wouldn't-melt-in-my-mouth routine for Vogue Italia. Shot by super snapper Steven Meisel, this spread for the 2011 February issue sees Candice vamp it up in a range of retro fabulous 60s inspired gets up — from citrus bright, modernist shifts to classic Deneuve inspired trenches, to backless go-go dresses, to a pair of acid bright yellow leather pants that Veruschka herself would approve of (no top needed). Candice ain't afraid to show some attitude (and some nip) in this bright versus black and white editorial. Want to see it all? Step on through.

From Runway to Real Life: Twiggy's Bottom-Heavy Mascara

Twiggy famously made a loaded-up lower lash line a statement look back in the '60s and it's something we started to see re-appearing at Spring '11 Fashion Week, particularly at Cynthia Rowley.

Twiggy famously made a loaded-up lower lash line a statement look back in the '60s and it's something we started to see re-appearing at Spring '11 Fashion Week, particularly at Cynthia Rowley. Now, if it's a look that you've been hoping to recreate, or if you'd just like to be able to apply mascara to your bottom lashes without getting it everywhere, Clinique has come up with the goods with its new Bottom Lash Mascara ($28). Available in Black and Black/Brown, the innovative brush is one of the smallest on the market, measuring in at just under 1cm. Cute! I was a bit skeptical about how well it would work but it did make it heaps easier to apply mascara to the lower lashes. I have dark eyelashes so wouldn't necessarily use it unless I was going for a dramatic smoky eye, but for those with little fair lashes, it's a great buy. The formula is long-wearing, lasting for up to 24 hours and is infused with jojoba oil to condition the lashes. What do you reckon? Are you interested in a separate lower lash line mascara? Or not really?

Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara will be available from 17 January.
