Metallic makeup may have been all over the runways last season but that doesn't mean to say it's old news now. It's a modern classic that's here to stay as celebrities are showing us on red carpets all around the globe. And even though bronze is the most wearable colour for all skin tones according to Lara Bingle's makeup artist, Max May, there are plenty of other colours for you to play around with. Step right this way to see how that stars are wearing their precious metals and shop some of your favourite shades now.
Kristen Stewart is continuing with her mag-land domination ahead of the release of Breaking Dawn: Part 1 next week — landing a spread in the new issue of Vogue Italia. She's recently appeared in Glamour UK and GQ but this is by far her edgiest shoot yet. Wearing her hair up and slick at the sides, textured strands hang loose over her face. A silver smoky eye — plus a kick-ass stare — only add to the ice maiden vibe. What do you think?
We're counting down to the 2011 Emmy Awards, this time taking a look at the best of the beauty looks from last year. While the up 'do was a firm favourite on the red carpet, we gave our best tressed award to Glee's Lea Michele's rumpled sex-bomb locks and Claire Dane's big-barrelled, natural-looking curls. On the makeup front we couldn't move past Emily Blunt's wash of silvery-grey eyeshadow and Heather Morris' red lip. Scope all the hair and makeup looks and get excited for Monday's red carpet!
Whitney Port jumped on board the metallics trend, too, opting for a silver shadow with a frosted snow white rimming the inner V to brighten the eyes. Whitney wore it with a high-shine glossy pink lip and tonged hair, which was parted deep and worn over one shoulder to accentuate her embellished one-shouldered gown. Whaddya think to Whit's look? Is it a winner or not?

She's normally all about the kohl-lined eye, but for the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides premiere in Disneyland on Saturday Vanessa Hudgens worked a metallic makeup palette along with her new ombré-effect strands. Coating the brow bone in an iridescent white, Vanessa's lid and beneath the lower lash line were rimmed with silver shadow, before lining the eye with kohl and finishing off with mascara and a quarter lash for added drama. She topped off the look with a gunmetal polish, save for her ring finger which was painted a teal green. We've seen the polish thing before on Vanessa and the makeup was similar to her Vanity Fair Oscars after party look — sans the berry lip. Do you like it when Vanessa mixes her metallics or would you like to see something new from the Disney darling?
Ooh, pretty! It's true, anything that shimmers and sparkles catches our attention, but Peter Philips — being the genius that he is — has created a look that we'd actually wear, not just bust out for Mardi Gras. Models skin was natural-looking, not super-matte but definitely not dewy. All eyes (tee hee) were on models peepers which had been coated with shimmering silver shadow right up to the brow bone. The same shade was also used to line under the lower lashes. Lips had a subtle hint of nude balmy gloss to them but the focus was definitely on the statement eye. Oh and the intergalactic silver foil-esque mani. Add to your Wish List now — it looks set to become Chanel's next cult shade. We'll hear more on the hair from our backstage blogger Barney Martin who helped to create the deep-parted side chignon later. Do you like it?
Jennifer Lopez is undeniably pretty, but in the new video for her song "On the Floor," she's looking even more glamazon than usual. The most striking thing about her look is her gorgeous eye makeup, especially the bright silver shadow she's wearing in the inner corners of her eyes. On lids, silver shadow can look heavy and even make eyes look smaller, but wearing it like Jen brightens and widens eyes, making you look fresher and more awake. So next time you're about to hit the dance floor, consider Ms. Lopez's trick for high-impact eyes.
Right behind Taylor Swift on the silver shadow bandwagon is Vanessa Hudgens. The former Disney darling — who recently got her first tattoo with Ruby Rose — worked a statement lip and eye at the Vanity Fair Oscar after party. Her lids were dusted with silver shadow, which was also used to line the lower lash line, before she water-lined her eyes with kohl and blended some black shadow to create a graphic finish. Throw in a berry lip and it's a BIG makeup look fo' shiz, but do you think V pulls it off? Or is there too much going on for you to LOVE the look?
