It's been a while since we heard anything about Nicky Hilton's clothing line, Chick by Nicky Hilton, but now the socialite is coming out with costume jewellery for Fall. "I’m a crazy jewellery collector. I've always known since I was a teenager that I wanted to do a line. Whenever I bought something, whether at a flea market in Paris or a bazaar in India, I've been collecting pieces," she said. Nicky has paired up with Titan Brands to bring baubles — wholesaling from US$35 to US$480 — with themes like Art Deco (inspired by her mother and grandmother's David Webb pieces) and Spike and Snakes. The collection will first hit Endless.com exclusively, then Nicky will take her goods to department and specialty stores. Are you impressed with these preview pieces?
Need a little spiritual healing (with a side of retail therapy)? Consider this Hindu-inspired Shari Wacks Ohm necklace with a cute lapis lazuli star. Need a celebrity endorsement? Mischa Barton is a fan. Besides, it's a charming little piece and is said to give the wearer a feeling of inner peace and calm. Mind over matter? Maybe ... but every little bit helps, right?
Shari Wacks Ohm Coin necklace with lapis, $139, from Miijo.
We're smitten with TomTom jewels. Not only do they ship internationally, but their pieces are well-priced — baubles range from US$95 to US$325. Designer Elena Coleman uses her formally trained architect skills to create amazing geometric jewels made out of 18k gold, oxidized silver, and gunmetal. Using cool techniques, such as 3D printing and water/laser jet cutting, Elena creates unique and statement-worthy jewels. Her Spring '10 collection, dubbed Shape It Up, is all about scintillating symmetry. Futuristic yet totally wearable.
Yay! One of my all time favourite jewellery labels from New York has made its way onto Shopbop's virtual shelves! Me&Ro's subtle yet divine necklaces have gained a cult following amongst those in the know, particularly celebrity stylists who have used the pieces in movies such as The Devil Wears Prada (on Anne Hathaway), Duplicity (Julia Roberts), Marley & Me (Jennifer Aniston) and loads more!
The range includes cute-as-a-button charm necklaces in both silver and gold, as well as leather bracelets and stud earrings. I've already got my eye on this Wisdom Disc necklace (left) which is a steal at just $220! I predict a sell-out so get clicking fast!
When I'm after statement jewellery, I look no further than Marni, Lanvin and more locally, Mania Mania. There's something so modern about teaming chunky, show stopping neck pieces with your everyday basics, à la Olivia Palermo. Lately though, I've come to appreciate the beauty of simple charm jewellery. A delicate necklace can be all a girl needs sometimes.
