There are so many things going on with Agyness Deyn right now that it's hard to keep up! We've already spoken about her upcoming magazine launch - Naag, plus she's designed a clothing line with Barneys Japan. And now, we get a first glimpse of her acting abilities as the raven haired model glams up for her part in Mean To Me. The vintage style costumes for the film noir, which is directed by Peter McGough, were created by Zac Posen. Below is a short clip from the 13-minute film which will get its first full screening at New York art gallery, Cheim & Read later this month. What do you think of her acting chops?
Daria. Mario. Mexicana. Can you feel the heat? The three team up in the upcoming issue of V Magazine in a spread inspired by Mexican actress Maria Felix — also known as La Doña, a woman who was a fixture in the fashion world as well as in Mexican cinema. Designers like Christian Dior, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, and Chanel dressed Felix once upon a time, and the actress also commissioned serpent and crocodile diamond necklaces from Cartier Paris. See Daria wrapped in slithery stunners, exotic black, smoking various cigars, every bit the ravenous screen siren. Source: V Magazine
Just when you thought Naomi Campbell's charitable ways had given her a new lease on life, out comes news that the supermodel assaulted her limo driver and fled from the scene in Manhattan just yesterday. The driver told police that Naomi began to "slap and punch him" as they were driving around town. As he pulled over to report the incident to nearby police, Naomi jumped out of the car and ran away. Yep, ran away. A supermodel. Who hit her driver. Temperamental much?
A police source told the NY Daily News that they're on the hunt for the runaway model. "There has been a criminal complaint made out against her. She's obviously aware of it. She'll either turn herself in or we'll go out and get her like anybody else." Seems like those anger management classes the model took after tossing a phone at her maid in 2007 haven't really done the trick just yet..
Miuccia Prada impressed with her Autumn/Winter Mad Men inspired runway collection last week, but also scored bonus points on the model front. Choosing Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Doutzen Kroes to walk was a first for the Italian fashion house, which usually favours hot young models minus the curves. Miuccia toldThe New York Timesthat her model choice was a reflection of the clothes: "It's normal clothes — the silhouette of the '90s, but using many different kind of models who are much more womanly."
Doutzen, who has been extremley vocal on the issue of sample sizing amongst the fashion industry, suited the full skirts and demure knee-length hemlines well, while Alessandra and Miranda's lean frames and ample busts filled out the feminine silhouettes with ease. The Angels were joined down the runway by Australian beauties Catherine McNeil and Abbey Lee Kershaw. Are you happy that international designers are finally sending different body shapes down the runway, or is this a case of too little, too late?
V Magazine's latest editorial, "Cabin Fever," reminds me of the movie The Reader. '90s model sensation Carolyn Murphy makes a cameo as a mature and undeniably foxy woman, flirting with not one, but two young, half-naked boys, Jakob Hedberg and Martin Landgreve. With the most sultry black lingerie on, Carolyn makes cabin fever a good thing! Photos courtesy of V Magazine
What better way to end NY Fall Fashion Week than with off-duty models who were snapped on their way to the shows and parties! Some were caught on the sidewalks around Bryant Park, many were photographed in the front rows, and others were spotted at the fancy soirees. Always looking gorgeous, obvi. Check out our slideshow for the latest model-off-duty action, and don't forget to catch all the best Fashion Week coverage from the week on FAB!
Chanel Iman is a sweetheart, so it's perfectly fitting that FAB US caught up with her on Valentine's Day. Wearing a tank that proudly stated "I Heart My Boyfriend" the Modelinia magazine cover star arrived for New York Fashion Week with best friend and boyfriend in tow. Want to hear all about Chanel's obsession with Chanel bags — she even has a design idea for one, Karl — and who she's looking forward to walking for this week? Here she is . . . What's new and exciting with you? I'm just happy it's Valentine's Day and I get to spend it with someone I love and we're in New York. We're both from LA so we're going to make the best of it. And is this your red Chanel bag to match your Valentine's Day outfit? Yes, and I had red lips on, like my best friend over there (points to her), but I took it off because it smeared in the taxi. But I'm going to put it back on. And then it will come back off later when you're with your boyfriend . . . Exactly. For more,
I know it's not technically a fashion mag, but the Sports Illustrated annual swimsuit issue is always worthy of a mention due to its top models, cute bikinis and sizzling photos. It was announced last night via The David Letterman Show that this year's cover star is Brooklyn Decker, aka Mrs. Andy Roddick. The cover was shot in the Maldives by Walter Ioos and features Brooklyn wearing (OK, holding) an itsy bitsy yellow bikini by Delfina.
Taking the reins from Bar Refaeli, last year's cover star, other models making the cut this year include Hilary Rhoda, Genevieve Morton, Julie Henderson and Australia's own Jessica Gomes. Brooklyn has appeared in the coveted issue since 2006 and has featured in past campaigns for Gap, Victoria's Secret, and Intimissimi. Nice one, Brooklyn!
If you didn't catch Abbey Lee Kershaw onToday Tonightlast night, here are some highlights. The Australian über model let us in on the pressures that come with being one of the world's top ten models, walking in ridiculously high heels, and her gypsy lifestyle.
On her hectic lifestyle: "It's crazy, it's a very fast life. I generally spend most of the time on planes, at airports, in studios, at shows, all over the place." On refusing to wear Alexander McQueen's Aramadillo heels: "Hopefully it's going to come back down soon because, I mean, health and safety regulations have got to come into place at some point." On posing nude: "I find nudity imperative to the expression of fashion... I don't think I've done anything too outrageous."
For its February issue, Interview magazine and photog Craig McDean got zany with Sasha Pivovarova in an editorial filled with psychedelic whimsy. In a spread dubbed My Space, Sasha looks like the ultimate artsy doll dripped in an array of bedazzled boleros, fluorescent tulle, and Prada's lusty crystal-embellished sandals. I'm smitten with her perfectly tangled hair, which comes complete with dusty pink highlights, and mannequin-like expressions. It's kinda creepy but still cool. If you look past the amazing artistic mess, you'll also find some sumptuous, soft skirts and embellished tops. Take a peek..
