Cut-Out Faceoff: Who Wore the Sexy Trend Best?

In the past, punk felt a bit more synonymous with grunge than sex bomb, but last night's Met Gala was ready and willing to change that notion. A slew of starlets stepped out in cut-out gowns that flashed patches of skin for a sultry sizzle. Carey Mulligan toyed with the idea in a Balenciaga gown that revealed her waist, while Jessica Alba picked a sparkling Tory Burch number that put the attention front and centre, courtesy of open patches above and below the bust. Miranda Kerr showed off most of her top half with a Michael Kors T-bar column dress, and Emma Watson felt the punkiest of all in a Prabal Gurung pick that looked slashed at both the shoulder and waist. So, when all's said and done, which sexy cut-out look was your favourite of the night?

Who Rocked the Best Met Gala Mini?

The looks from last night's Met Gala were long on embellishments — we saw our fair share of grommets, studs, and safety pins in an homage to this year's "Punk: Chaos to Couture" exhibition. But for some stars, it was also short on fabric. We tend to believe it's always a little punk to show up to a black-tie affair in something ultra-short, so we'd like to pay our respects to the five stars who rocked minidresses. Gisele Bündchen left little to the imagination in an asymmetrical Anthony Vaccarello metal-hook minidress. Stacy Keibler showed up in a studded black Rachel Roy mini with sheer panel sleeves, while Elizabeth Banks went with a menswear-inspired gold Atelier Versace dress. Kate Bosworth put her long legs on full display beneath a structured, pink-beaded Balmain number, and January Jones, ever the red carpet risk-taker, paired a bold Genevieve Jones ear cuff with a sequined LBD by Chanel. In the minidress melee, whose look do you like best?

2013 Met Gala: Kate Bosworth

We got a glimpse of Kate Bosworth getting ready for the Met Gala in her sparkly Balmain mini, but when she hit the red carpet, we were no less impressed with the look.

We got a glimpse of Kate Bosworth getting ready for the Met Gala in her sparkly Balmain mini, but when she hit the red carpet, we were no less impressed with the look. The actress flaunted her stems in a punk-appropriate fuchsia minidress, which she finished with a studded belt and an equally shimmering clutch in hand — though maybe it was the dramatic eyeliner that sealed the deal. Do you love it?

2013 Met Gala: Amanda Seyfried

We're suckers for dramatic red carpet looks and the actresses who embrace them.

We're suckers for dramatic red carpet looks and the actresses who embrace them. Porcelain-skinned Amanda Seyfried didn't disappoint, scaling the Met Gala's much-lauded red stairs in a Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci silk-chiffon gown with a train that cascaded over the lower steps. Add in Fred Leighton chandelier earrings and, well, we're sold. What do you think about the look? Did it take your breath away or leave you wishing for something else?

2013 Met Gala: Marion Cotillard

Marion Cotillard has honed her red-carpet reputation with pieces that appear basic at first glance but reveal something more interesting upon second (or third) glance.

Marion Cotillard has honed her red-carpet reputation with pieces that appear basic at first glance but reveal something more interesting upon second (or third) glance. And at the Met Gala, Cotillard's strapless Dior dress had two asymmetrical lines and the graceful fall of the skirt flipped back to reveal a spot of daffodil yellow. Are you a fan, or would you like to see more oomph?

2013 Met Gala: Best Dressed

The 2013 Met Gala best-dressed set could easily be likened to the fashion Olympics, and this year's "Punk: Chaos to Couture" exhibition turnout made it harder than ever to pick only five gold-medal contenders.

The 2013 Met Gala best-dressed set could easily be likened to the fashion Olympics, and this year's "Punk: Chaos to Couture" exhibition turnout made it harder than ever to pick only five gold-medal contenders. Beyoncé Knowles spared no head-turning detail in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture flame-embroidered gown; Gwyneth Paltrow stood out in a covered-up hot pink Valentino number; Rooney Mara played the edgy card in a custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown, complete with floral embroidery, zippers, ruffles, and a split-front opening; Jennifer Lawrence chose ladylike Dior (and that Jennifer Behr netted veil!); and Diane Kruger dazzled in a punked-up Chanel couture creation. It's a close one, but it's time for you to declare a best-dressed winner of the night.  Want more Met Gala action? Vote on all of our fashion and beauty polls here!

2013 Met Gala: Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger may walked the red carpet a little late, but that didn't stop us from zooming in on her take on Punk Couture.

Diane Kruger may walked the red carpet a little late, but that didn't stop us from zooming in on her take on Punk Couture. Ms K donned a delicate sheer and lace spliced gown from Chanel's S/S '13 haute couture collection - which by itself would look utterly pretty  but with a few key hair and makeup tweaks Diane toughed-up the glamorous gown. A pink-dipped ponytail and heavy smoky eye gave her otherwise feminine frock the edge it needed for this year's Met Gala. Are you a fan?

Emma Watson embraced the Met Gala's call for an edgier aesthetic in a cut-out black silk-crepe Prabal Gurung look that showcased more than a hint of skin. She added a pair of T-strap pumps, then furthered the punky appeal with a mismatched set of earrings, including a diamond and black enamel dart pendant earring by Fred Leighton. Now, it's time to cast your vote: did you love Emma's sexier Met Gala style?
