Yesterday we held our first ever Sugar reader event where we were joined by the winners of the HTC Rhyme™ competition at the luxurious Lattouf Hair and Day Spa at Sydney's Sofitel Wentworth hotel. As well as checking out the amazing new phone, readers were treated to pampering treatments such as massages, facials, manicures and blow-dries. The champagne was flowing, the canapés were delish and it was great to get to meet some long-time readers in person! To everyone who came, we hope you enjoyed yourself as much as we did, and to those who didn't win this time — don't worry, not only do we plan on hosting more events like this in the future, but we also captured all the action with the cameras on our HTC Rhyme™ phones!
Editor’s note: The following is a guest post written by Rachel Zoe, stylist, fashion designer, and creator of The Zoe Report. This week Rachel helps us organise our closets — listen up!
Cleanliness is next to godliness, especially in terms of your closet if you consider yourself a devoted follower of fashion. As a stylist, I am a firm believer that all clothes, shoes, and accessories should be treated with a lot of respect. That is, dresses neatly hung up, heels placed carefully inside labelled boxes, and jewellery laid gently out on trays for your viewing pleasure. This kind of organization will not only preserve the quality of your things, but also makes the process of putting together an outfit much less complicated than if everything was in disarray. We all know the stress of losing 30 minutes of our day to a search party for a missing platform pump — disaster — so the goal is to avoid those kind of incidents at all costs. Read on for a few of my personal tricks of the closetry trade, and keep them in mind as you delve into your own spring cleaning! xoRZ
Want to know the secret to giving yourself a minute makeover? It's all in the shoes. We spotted Fearne Cotton giving her monochrome spotted frock a hit of scarlet via her very sexy platform sandals at Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday anniversary bash. And it's not the first time. Fearne knows the power a brightly coloured shoe can weild over a dull-ish ensemble. Take a leaf out of her style book with these top tips:
- A pair of bright heels (or flats, or wedges) adds instant dimension and interest to any look, really. Test drive the effect with a basic look, like a white tee and denim. Stepping into a bright pair of shoes will amp up that ensemble instantaneously.
- Why footwear? Investing in a playful pair of heels is a safe way to spend, since your feet aren't likely to change sizes. Of course, if you fear the colour you choose won't be "in" for very long, opt for a budget-friendly pair. If you do opt for a more expensive pair, keep it in a classic colour, like red.
- Bright shoes are also a safer way to experiment with bolder colours. If, for example, you've always loved lime green or orange, but feared you couldn't pull it off with your complexion, shoes are the perfect way to add the hues you love in a less-obvious way.
- Keep a pair of bright heels in your bag or under your desk. Then, think of them as your secret weapon — slip them on before date night or on your way out of work for a quick outfit refresh that doesn't require stopping off at home.
We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with LaurenConrad! The TV personality, writer, designer, and style maven started LaurenConrad.com, a social networking site that features daily posts by Lauren on all of our favourite topics — fashion, beauty, food, party planning — and Lauren will be sharing her latest fashion finds with Fab every month. First up? We get the skinny on Lauren's beach day basics. Keep this on file for when the weather (finally!) warms up...
The sun is shining and the seagulls are singing (or more accurately, combing the beach for your sandy leftovers)—it’s summertime! You may have your swimsuit du jour squared away along with the perfect pair of sunnies, but the question remains: Are you really ready to hit the beach?
In addition to my door side “go” bag (see In the Bag: Prepped & Ready for all the details), there are a few key fashion items I keep around for hanging beachside…
Classic Cut Offs Every gal needs a good old pair of cut off jean shorts. For me, denim cutoffs will always be a summer staple. They are as timeless as they are California cool. Lately, I’ve been wearing Levi’s because I like the looser fit and higher set waist. The Levi’s 501 cut works well with most body types. Other cute cut offs I found online include Madewell’s cuffed Midi Shorts or Urban Outfitter’s Urban Renewal Shorts. Neutral Sandals I cannot stress how important it is to have a great pair of neutral sandals. Your wardrobe choices are exponentially multiplied when you’ve got a pair of shoes that go with almost everything in your closet. A few of my favourites are the sandals I designed for my LC Lauren Conrad line for Kohl’s, Tory Burch’s Emmy Flats, Topshop’s Hoopa Sandals, and Aldo’s Dauster Flats (find similar). And for those of you who plan on treading into the sand, I suggest keeping a pair of Havaianas Slim Flip Flops handy (I like the sand grey and light golden colour combo).

Some of TV's most popular actors made appearances at today's inaugural Critics' Choice Television Awards. The festivities were held at the Beverly Hills Hotel to honour shows across categories that included reality, comedy and drama. Cougar Town stars Courteney Cox and Busy Philipps were both on hand for the luncheon, and cable series were also well represented, with Sam Trammell attending ahead of True Blood's season four premiere in June in the US. Jon Hamm and Christina Hendricks from Mad Men were also there, and she picked up the very first honour of the afternoon, splitting the award for best supporting actress in a drama series with Justified actor Margo Martindale. Jon followed suit shortly after when when he was announced as the winner of best lead actor in a drama series. Fans of the show have a while longer to wait before Don Draper and his cohorts return to TV. New episodes are expected to be absent from the airwaves until March of 2012, though filming resumes next month.

From the moment I first announced my pregnancy, the how-do-I-stay-stylish-while-prego questions became pouring in! After nearly nine months of troubleshooting the subject on my own, I am thrilled to point you in the right direction to help you figure out what to wear during this special time.
Starting with a very crucial everyday wardrobe element, your jeans, I have to say my #1 pregnancy fashion secret has been my Seven For All Mankind Bellbottom Maternity Jeans. Seriously, they are a lifesaver! With elastic side panels for tummy growth, you can wear them comfortably throughout your entire term without sacrificing an ounce of style.
Other free-form bottoms that I can't recommend enough are leggings—obvi—and one of this season's top sought-after silhouettes, a maxi-length skirt or dress. I love All Saints' Bleach Breton Dress. For tops, I recommend keeping it simple and chic with a long soft t-shirt. Try T by Alexander Wang's Classic Short Sleeve Tee.
Concerning footwear, I recommend staying relaxed in a pair of sophisticated flats or wedges—Tinley Road's Capri Wedges are ba-na-nas! Rock the rest of your accessories as you normally do—just don't forget to finish the look with a pair of oversize sunnies to hide fatigue! xoRZ
Valentine's Day brings up a lot of mixed emotions for everyone — but my feelings are that no matter if you are single or coupled up, February 14th is just another day to flaunt your style. Right? While I am not one to condone an all-over red and pink ensemble — scary — I do think it is appropriate to ring in Cupid's day with a touch or two of the holiday's hues. What I have in mind is a gorgeous red dress (paired with neutral accessories), sexy magenta stilettos, a crimson bow clutch or other special accessory that you will be able to wear again and again. Love! If you really want to go for something subtle, paint a pop of red polish on your nails to make a sexy yet subdued statement. Now, go plan your outfit now and you will knock it out of the park for St. Valentine. xoRZ
Next in line to holiday shopping is another essential enterprise of the season: holiday dressing. From family dinners to spirited gatherings and New Year's Eve bashes, your social calendar is likely booked out. With little time on your hands to find something to wear for each merry occasion, I have gathered five festive frocks — under $200! — to stylishly see you through the season. Pick your perfect party dress now and don't forget to accessorize! xoRZ
