The Week in Style

Between parties for magazine covers, royals playing polo, the launch of an exciting new collaboration, and the Cannes Film Festival, the style set has been out and about a lot this week.

Between parties for magazine covers, royals playing polo, the launch of an exciting new collaboration, and the Cannes Film Festival, the style set has been out and about a lot this week.

Model Doutzen Kroes attended the Le Passé premiere in Cannes, with Cara Delevingne and Hanneli Mustaparta also in the mix at the Calvin Klein-hosted Women in Film party. Stateside, supermodel Iman helped Kerry Washington celebrate her stunning June cover of Elle magazine at a party attended by everyone from the magazine's editor, Robbie Myers, to Olivia Chantecaille. Designers Jason Wu and Valentino Garavani both showed up at Prince Harry's charity polo match in Greenwich, CT, where models Karolina Kurkova and Jessica Stam were also spotted.

But perhaps no event drew more members of the style set than Donatella Versace's party for the relaunch of her secondary line Versus and its collaboration with Jonathan Anderson earlier this week. Both designers got hands-on at the event, styling runway looks in front of a crowd that included models like Eniko Mihalik and Heidi Klum.

There aren't many events that can trump the high style of the Met Gala, but this week's best-dressed women didn't let that stop them from bringing glamour to other events.

There aren't many events that can trump the high style of the Met Gala, but this week's best-dressed women didn't let that stop them from bringing glamour to other events.

Because while Monday's gala — which celebrated The Costume Institute's new exhibit Punk: Chaos to Couture — was filled to capacity with the industry's bold-faced names, so were the parties Net-a-Porter and Dolce & Gabbana threw the weekend before it. Giovanna Battaglia hosted the opening party for the Italian brand's Fifth Avenue boutique, and Natalie Massenet played host at the e-tailer's Saturday night party in downtown New York.

And plenty of other stylish women attended parties throughout the week. Actress Carey Mulligan looked sharp in a Lanvin suit at a screening of The Great Gatsby, and Alexa Chung donned Dior at a party thrown by the Tate Americas Foundation. Linda Fargo's black and white coat, at left, clashed beautifully with the wallpaper at the Frieze Art Fair preview.

No one throws a party like the creative people in the fashion industry, but this week was marked by two unforgettable fetes thrown by two of the biggest names in the business: Prada and Ferragamo.

No one throws a party like the creative people in the fashion industry, but this week was marked by two unforgettable fetes thrown by two of the biggest names in the business: Prada and Ferragamo.

Prada celebrated the opening of an exhibit featuring some of the clothing the brand created for the new movie The Great Gatsby. At the brand's store in New York's SoHo neighborhood, Miuccia Prada played host to Alexa Chung, Harley Viera Newton, Katy Perry, and a bevy of other starlets. Ferragamo, meanwhile, was busy celebrating its iconic Vara shoe and introducing a way for shoppers to customize the colors and patterns it comes in. Everyone from Azealia Banks to model Lily Aldridge and Lauren Remington Platt attended this fete.

Of course, stylish women dress up for a variety of events — not just the parties thrown by fashion houses. See other great looks from the Whitney Art Party, Balmain's dinner in Los Angeles, and elsewhere here in the gallery.

The worlds of film and fashion collided more than one time this week, when some of the industry's biggest names were spotted at the Tribeca Film Festival and movie premieres on both coasts.

Chanel hosted its annual dinner during the New York festival, which drew Alexa Chung, Joan Smalls, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld — all of whom wore Chanel. Anna Wintour attended The Cinema Society's screening of Mud. On the other side of the country, Gwyneth Paltrow looked stunning in an Antonio Berardi dress at the Los Angeles premiere of Iron Man 3.

On the other side of the pond, however, British Vogue's Alexandra Shulman hosted a glittering party in honor of Michael Kors. Jacquetta Wheeler, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Miroslava Duma wore Kors's work.

This week's events and galas took the best-dressed set from one coast of the United States to the other, where they attended Coachella, the MTV Movie Awards, and the Tiffany's Blue Book Ball.

The Tiffany fete, hosted in New York City, drew models Hilary Rhoda and Poppy Delevingne, plus stylish actresses like Jessica Biel and Carey Mulligan. Elsewhere in New York, Karolina Kurkova was spotted at Vanity Fair's party to kick off the annual Tribeca Film Festival, where she was joined by Zac Posen, Tory Burch, and Vera Wang.

On the other side of the country, Karlie Kloss showed up at the MTV Movie Awards in bright white Cushnie et Ochs, and Alessandra Ambrosio was spotted making the rounds at Coachella. Get a look at who else joins them on this week's list of best-dressed people here in the gallery.

The glittering attendees of this week's New Yorkers For Children Gala wore so much Valentino, the charitable event could have doubled as one of the house's fashion shows.

The glittering attendees of this week's New Yorkers For Children Gala wore so much Valentino, the charitable event could have doubled as one of the house's fashion shows.

Of course, that's because the legendary Italian label sponsored the event and dressed many of the women who came to lend their support for children in foster care, like Hilary Rhoda and Crystal Renn. Designer Gabriela Cadena dressed another stylish crew that included Lindsey Wixson, Eniko Mihalik, and the singer Nanna Fabricius.

Elsewhere in the world of style, Inès de la Fressange and Coco Rocha were spotted with Karen Elson at the launch of a book about Roger Vivier, while Leelee Sobieski and Fabiola Beracasa attended the New Museum's Spring Gala.

If you've had enough of Spring's persistent chill, you're not alone.

If you've had enough of Spring's persistent chill, you're not alone. Despite lower-than-average temperatures in New York, Moscow, and London, this week's best-dressed women showed they weren't afraid to step out in ensembles better suited for sunnier climes.

Helena Christensen, for example, showed up at the London launch of her handbag collection with Kipling in a sleeveless pink cocktail dress, while actress Olga Kurylenko glittered in a lighter-than-air dress from Elie Saab's Spring 2013 collection at the premiere of her new movie, Oblivion, in Moscow.

But nowhere did women defy the wind and rain more fiercely this week than in New York, where Jenne Lombardo bared her midriff at a party for the 51st chapter of the quarterly magazine Frank Book. Nanna Fabricius, the singer also known by her stage name, Oh Land, wore a short dress to a party for Kering.

Karl Lagerfeld and Cara Delevingne had busy weeks trotting across the globe in style.

Karl Lagerfeld and Cara Delevingne had busy weeks trotting across the globe in style. Both the designer extraordinaire and the budding supermodel made appearances at the annual Rose Ball in Monaco, which Lagerfeld helped design, and at a party for his collaboration with the shoe brand Melissa in New York.

In fact, if this week has taught us anything it's that great style can be found all over the planet. Freida Pinto looked stunning in a Naeem Khan dress at one of the designer's fashion show's in Mumbai, and the starlets who showed up for Seoul Fashion Week didn't disappoint, either.

Of course, nothing looks more chic than having a good time — and Delevingne seemed to be having a blast with fellow models Toni Ward, Constance Jablonski, Karlie Kloss, and Hilary Rhoda at Lagerfeld's event in New York. A look at this week's best-dressed people, here in the gallery.

Jason Wu was honored at the fifth annual Asia Society gala in New York on Monday night, where, despite the early-Spring snow that covered the city, there was no shortage of the designer's well-heeled supporters in attendance. Hilary Rhoda, Liya Kebede, Martha Hunt, and Shu Pei all arrived wearing dresses by Wu. Kebede wore a strong-shouldered, bright crimson dress from Fall 2013; Rhoda a white, ostrich-feathered number also from Fall 2013; while Pei wore a black leather bustier and silk dress from Spring 2012.
