However you style your strands, though, make sure your headband stays put with bobby pins, or try adding texture to finer hair with a texturising spray or wax for added grip. Another tip is to put the hair accessory on pre-style to make it feel like it's part of your coiffure.

"If you don't want the headband to look like its simply plopped on top of the head, place it on the head before you pull the hair back to form your French twist," said celebrity stylist Devin Toth of the Ted Gibson Salon in New York City. "This will hide the bottom tips of the headband, making the accessory look more natural and elegant." So whether you're a let-your-hair-down type or you like to style your hair in a ponytail, up 'do, or braid, adding a statement hairpiece will get you party-ready fast and loads of compliments, too.
