Some of the world's most successful fashion and business entreprenours have descended upon Sydney. Lured not by the sparkling harbour nor the promise of cuddling a koala — these industry leaders will be sharpening their understanding of the key trends, innovations and collaborations in the world of luxury fashion at today's Bespoke summit, presented by the Australian Financial Review. Representatives from Mr Porter, J Brand and Saturdays Surf NYC will be speaking alongside a stellar line-up of local success stories; including Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton from sass & bide, Ana Maria Escobar from Oroton, Karen Walker from (funnily enough) Karen Walker and Nicky Zimmermann from Zimmermann. 

In an effort to supply our stylish international guests with a concise must-do list, we picked the brains of these homegrown heroes; asking for their favourite places to eat, shop, drink and dance in Sydney. Step inside to get a true fashion insider's guide to Sydney. 

Hosted at the Sydney Opera House, Bespoke will run from 10am until 6.30pm on Thursday the 16th of May. Tickets cost $795, and can be bought here. 

Following in the stylish footsteps of Proenza Schouler, Zimmermann has collaborated with luxe e-tailer Net-a-Porter on an exclusive capsule collection. Utilising the iconic botanical prints from their Summer 2013 Swim collection, the local label has produced a line of incredibly cute floral print board shorts — set to hit the e-shelves tomorrow. The shorts come in two lengths; a shorter retro-inspired length and a longer manstyle short. The boardies will retail for approx $210 AUD and approx $220 AUD respectively. We've scoured the online stores of our favourite (national) chain stores so that you can simply do a quick after-work/Saturday morning dash. The following present ideas are generic enough (in a good way) for any mum, whatever's she's into. This year's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia was closed out in the most stylish of ways last night — with a runway party to welcome Elle magazine to the Australian media fold. Lara Bingle, Gracie Otto, Sam Worthington, Jesinta Campbell (and many more stars) joined newly-appointed editor-in-chief, Justine Cullen — formerly of Shop 'Til You Drop magazine — as she officially launched the magazine with a runway show featuring designs from the likes of Collette Dinnigan, Josh Goot and Zimmermann. Model, singer and TV presenter Erika Heynatz also joined the party — she took to the runway to sing Kylie Minogue's "Confide In Me" in French, to loud applause. Elle Australia's first issue will be on sale in late September; in the meantime, check out all the pictures from the extravagant welcoming party!

We're in the thick of all things Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, and we're keeping a keen eye on visiting international style-setters and bloggers. Most important are the buyers who turn up hoping to spy cool new threads and trends to adopt — and this year Shopbop, one of our most visited shopping sites, has its team on the ground here in Sydney. New Yorker Jenny Fuchs is one of Shopbop's fashion buyers, and we asked her to tell us what she brought with her for the trip. • Australian style: Easy and fun, but still chic — items that can go from the shows and market appointments to a dinner down at Bondi Beach.

I've got a case of the pre-fashion nerves. No, not because I'm presenting a collection nor am I walking the runway, but Alison (our POPSUGAR Health & Beauty editor), Marisa (our publisher) and myself will be spending next week basically living on-site at Carriageworks for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. And that requires some very calculated wardrobe choices. You see, we spend all day on our feet madly writing runway reviews, snapping our favourite front row looks and interviewing the industry's crème de la crème, so we need to look presentable yet feel comfortable. They'll be no peacocking for the street style snapper-pack from us! Here's how I intend to walk the cool/comfy line.
