Candice Lake stands like a tall, blonde ray of Australian sunshine amongst the blogger-cum-snapper pack outside the tents of international fashion week; her elegant yet off-beat sense of style just as captivating as her inspiring street style photography. So it makes perfect sense that Westfield has employed Ms Lake's killer eye to snap their latest campaign for the Autumn/Winter '13 season. After capturing local style identities including Camilla Freeman-Topper, stylist Pip Edwards and actress Isabelle Cornish in their natural Sydney habitats we quizzed the industry insider on everything from her blogger besties to the local buys that earn her compliments from fashion's most discerning front row regulars.
You are both the subject of, and photographer behind some beautiful street style shots — what do you prefer being; model or snapper? I think this is an exciting time to be a creative person. I love the fact that one day I can be staring in a film, like Fashion Lust or modelling for a fashion shoot; and the next I am behind the camera shooting a campaign for Westfield.
The international A/W '13 fashion week has been and gone; which is your favourite city to shoot in? I live in London and I LOVE shooting there. London girls have an incredible gift for dressing with current trends in mind in a wholly unique way. Although having said that, Paris Fashion Week is pretty spectacular, it is like going to the fashion Oscars as the girls are often dressed in couture!

A day at the races is a truly fabulous reason to frock up, but along with the hat, heel and horse-related choices there are some rather important dress codes to contend with. To set the record straight on everything from this season's biggest racing trends to what sort-of-hat to wear with what-sort-of-dress, we enlisted the expertise of Westfield's head stylist Ken Thompson. Combined with some of our favourite celebrity looks from the Spring Carnival's biggest race days so far, consider this the only form guide you'll be needing. Ready, set? Go!
What are your hard and fast rules for getting it right at the races?
- Think Spring! It's all about sorbet colours.
- To-the-knee outfits and straw or light-weight head-pieces are de rigueur.
- This is the season of tailoring — a beautifully fitted jacket will be one of the strongest looks this season.
- Know how to dress for your body shape. To get it right, use the Westfield Body Shape Calculator.
Watch out Topshop! Back in your box Zara! Because there's a new international chain set to infiltrate the Australian retail market. Miss Selfridge is testing the waters down under with a pop-up store to tie-in with launch of Glue Store's Bondi Junction flagship store. The UK chain store, known for its on-trend and wallet-friendly wares, will be making its Aussie debut inside shop 4067 of Westfield Bondi Junction on Thursday November 8th. You free? We've heard rumour that this will be a tester of sorts for the high street hero, with potential for the permanent pop-up within Glue Store to grow in size if things go well. These are all the deets we have so far, so stay tuned for updates as they come to hand. In the meantime, why not get familiar with Miss Selfridge with a spot of online shopping. . .
The woman is an icon, the brand is an American powerhouse, and her wrap dress is a classic wardrobe staple. Diana von Furstenberg swooped in on Sydney to launch her Spring 2013 collection last night to an awaiting crowd of VIP customers and industry heavy-weights; both of whom seemed equally excited about seeing the legend in the flesh. We were lucky enough to sit with the woman behind the brand for five minutes backstage and even despite a gruelling schedule of back-to-back interviews, the 65 year old designer was every inch as calm, confident and passionate as you'd imagine. Wearing a jet-studded black cocktail jacket over a colourful sequinned sheath — her nude-fishnet-covered legs crossed like a woman waiting for a martini — the woman can only be described as a total fox. Before you read what Diane had to say, please imagine every word coming out covered like honey in her thick, continental accent and each sentence punctuated with a toss of her henna-hued mane.

How's your Spring racing prep going? We don't mean to alarm you, but Derby Day is less than a month away — which means you have just shy of four weeks to get your trackside outfit sorted. Put your pretty pastels and bold brights aside, because Saturday the 3rd of November demands a strict monochrome dress code. The easiest way to follow the fashion form guide for Derby Day is to pick a two-tone dress. Simple, but so effective! We've scoured this season's best to present you with five of the most fab black and white frocks. Accessorise accordingly, and you're off and racing!
