Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield mixed work and play on the weekend in NYC. On Saturday afternoon the cute couple walked hand-in-hand after dining at Bubby’s and shopping at J.Crew, and even sneaked in a kiss. Then they got to work that night on the Chinatown set of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which Andrew started shooting last week with newcomer Shailene Woodley, who showed off her red hair as Mary Jane Watson — see who else has joined the cast for the sequel. Andrew and Emma shot some emotionally-charged scenes on the weekend and did their best to stay warm between takes.
Andrew Garfield kicked off his week in NYC by working on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 both yesterday and Monday. The actor took to the set of the sequel wearing a heavy coat and breaking to laugh at playbacks with a friend, before suiting up in his Spider-Man spandex. Andrew's return to his role as Peter Parker will mark the first film he's done since the first of the franchise. His on and off-screen love, Emma Stone, will also return to her role as Gwen Stacy, along with several new cast members signing on for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Among them is Shailene Woodley, who was also on set yesterday sporting a noticeably redder shade of hair for her role as Mary Jane.
Last week Andrew Garfield showed off his spidey skills — and hot, shirtless bod — as the superhero star of The Amazing Spider-Man. And what's better than one super-sexy superhero? A whole crop of them! This year is turning out to be superpowered hottie overload with The Avengers cast of steamy Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and a bulked-up Chris Hemsworth as Thor. And in a couple of weeks Christian Bale brings his suited-up good looks back to the big screen as Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. I'm all for the superheroines, but when it comes to all these swoon-worthy superheroes, sign me up for the damsel in distress role! To get in the superhero spirit, let's look at the most smouldering caped crusaders to grace the big screen with their big guns.
This week, Andrew Garfield takes over the role of Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man, which Tobey Maguire originated just 10 years ago. While the new film is a reboot with a few new characters, many of the elements remain the same — Peter still has a love interest, a loving aunt and uncle, a villain to face down, and that red stretchy suit. If you want to see how they stack up, just click through to see the old-school and new-school characters in Spider-Man's universe.

Much like it's titular hero, The Amazing Spider-Man has had to overcome a lot; cynics argued that it was too soon to start over with a new cast, especially in light of the record-breaking success of the original Spider-Man movies. Director Marc Webb promised us that his iteration would be different, and he does his best to inject freshness everywhere he can: Peter Parker has a new(ish) personality, a new girlfriend, and a new villain to tackle. Despite all these tweaks, this reboot of the Spidey franchise still feels like something we've seen before. That said, The Amazing Spider-Man is an inspired take on the comic book that will please fans of the Spider-Man story, and Andrew Garfield proves he can carry the weight of a superhero franchise.
Garfield is our new Peter Parker, and this time he's more of a hipster outcast (complete with skateboard and a seemingly endless array of hoodies) than timid nerd. Still troubled by the mysterious disappearance of his parents years earlier, Peter's lonely teenage years change dramatically when a spider bite leaves him with some serious strength and cobwebs coming out of his ears wrists. Like I said, you've heard this story before, but to find out why The Amazing Spider-Man is still worth seeing, just keep reading.
Andrew Garfield isn't just taking on a comic book icon in the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man; he's also portraying his own personal hero. A fan of Spidey since he was 3, Andrew talked about his undying fandom for the character when we sat down with him at the film's press day in New York. He also joked that he's already "dissatisfied" with a potential sequel to the film because he's so hard on himself and his performances. As for what's next now that he's fulfilled his lifelong dream? Well, saving the world, of course. Watch our interview before the film hits cinemas on July 4.
Two of the most anticipated comic book blockbusters are coming to the big screen this month, and we're guessing dedicated fans have been crossing off dates on their calendars for The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises. But if that's not your thing, don't worry about not having anything to see at the cinemas, because it seems like July's releases have great options for comedy fans and music lovers — oh, and a small film where some of Hollywood's hottest men play strippers. Check out our pick of the July flicks.
Emma Stone plays Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man, a love interest to Peter Parker (her real-life boyfriend, Andrew Garfield). The film chronicles Peter and Gwen's high school romance, and Emma admitted that she drew on some of her own experiences with teenage love when I sat down with her at a recent press day for the film in NYC. She also gushed about what an "unbelievable actor" Garfield is, and why playing Gwen Stacy is a little bittersweet. Watch the interview before The Amazing Spider-Man hits cinemas on July 4.
