OK peeps, before we head straight into the London shows, lets take a quick (cat)walk through some standout trends New York had to offer. There's definitely been a pattern emerging with military, tailoring, ladylike, layering and texture all appearing in full force. Despite the hot weather outside this is making me want to ditch the Summer dress in favour of a woolen coat and hosiery! Ah, the power of good clothes. Ready, set, drool!
After viewing this Fall '10 collection it's easy to see why Anna Wintour has such a designer crush. Thakoon Panichgul, accidental star of The September Issue, showcased a beautiful Winter range filled with romantic ruffles, textured separates and subtle prints. Fur jackets and trims featured heavily throughout, much to Ms. Wintour's delight no doubt, as did a simple palette of black, grey, and white with the odd splash of brights thrown in.
I'm a big, big fan of this collection. The muted yellow and white ruffled mini-dresses almost brought a tear to my eye, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll want to replicate the printed dress + shaggy coat + white tights look come Winter. The beauty about these pieces is that they'll appeal to a wide range of styles and ages; I can easily see Kate Bosworth and Michelle Obama wanting to wear some of this collection soon, can't you? Seems like that Anna Wintour's onto something..

Only 2 sleeps to go! New York Fashion Week is only days away and I'm quite, (ok, ridiculoulsy) excited...can you tell? Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte.. you get my drift. How about you; are there any shows which you're hanging to see most?

Which designer mixed a wooden platform with their cap toe ankle boots?
Get ready to ogle. Thakoon's debut jewellery line for Tasaki is all about classic pieces with a sharp, modern twist. "I really wanted to just go back to the DNA of what Tasaki’s about, which is beautiful pearls, beautiful materials and beautiful diamonds,” said Panichgul. "I wanted to put some youthful spirit into pearls.” That's exactly what he did, engineering fresh two-fingered rings, lusty lariat necklaces, and cunning chain link bracelets.
Thakoon's play on old-meets-new is beyond genius — I can easily picture a PYT like Diane Kruger or distinguished fashionphile Daphne Guinness donning these pearl rings. Thakoon's baubles aren't cheap — prices range from US$5,577 to US$39,041 — but a girl can always dream. To see more eye candy,

You've checked out Oscar de la Renta's offerings, now let me to dump another load of Pre-Fall pretties in your lap(top). While some designers went on a more serious route , (Jason Wu left the frills at home this time around and Thakoon went urban), some still delivered opulence. Thank you Donna Karan, D&G and Carolina Herrera! Their luxurious, sexy, colourful, and rich confections gave Wintery pieces a much needed boost; without them, Pre-Fall would be a lonely place. Anna Wintour's designer crush, Thakoon Panichgul of label Thakoon, is expanding his fashion wings to a Creative Director role for Japanese fine jewellery firm, Tasaki. The New York based designer says the collaboration "will unquestionably feed into my overall creative process."
Tasaki, best known for its pearls and coloured stones, will unveil the first Thakoon for Tasaki collection in February, 2010. "I've always loved fine jewellery" he adds, "I like things that are not obvious, to play with rough diamonds and make pearls more modern for this generation."
Amid speculation the designer also has an upcoming menswear line to debut, as well as another collaboration with Spanish chain Mango, it seems this Vogue favourite is headed for a very busy year.
Glamazon Charlize was in San Francisco last night for the ONEXONE Foundation Gala. She wore a perfectly appropriate philanthropic fit. Her printed Thakoon dress is made more serious with a black blazer with white cuffs and black tights. A Dior clutch and patent pumps polish her off.
Malin Akerman was a ray of sunshine at the LA premiere of Couples Retreat last night in her yellow and nude Thakoon dress. What a great colour combo — the yellow livens the nude, while the nude tames the yellow. Matching jeweled Miriam Haskell bracelets adorned each wrist, while grey-suede Aldo pumps prettied her feet.
