What if your definition of shopping was less trolling the shops and web, more sitting front row at a fashion show and taking down notes on what you'd like to wear? It's real life for lucky ladies like Blake Lively, Kate Bosworth, and Kerry Washington, all of whom have been spotted out and about in Spring 2014 clothes already.
We're charting all the stars, models, and bloggers who are giving Spring 2014's designer pieces their first taste of the real world.
Both literally and metaphorically, Thakoon Panichgul's Spring 2014 collection has legs. Many of the looks he presented during his show on Sunday put the emphasis below the belt, either with a high slit in the case of one daring little black dress, or simply by cutting one side of a skirt or dress higher than the other. And even when Panichgul covered up his models' legs, he did it with open-toe lace booties that stretched all the way up to their thighs.
This collection, like so many we've seen this week, reinterpreted ladylike staples. More than one editor voiced their love for the strings of pearls used as the straps on evening clutches, and crystals were smartly applied to collars, waistlines, and hems throughout the collection.
Back in March, we showed you the 2013 Autumn Winter fashion shows — always a celeb-filled, dreamy time — to get inspired by the beauty trends that were set to roll out as the weather cooled down. Now that we're officially in Winter, it's time for a refresher course! There were five prominent makeup trends amongst a sea of equally beautiful looks, and the best part is they're all wearable. From eyes to lips and skin, it's all typically rich and Winter-y — enough to have you greeting the cold season like an old friend. Click through to see the five Winter makeup trends to try now!
There's never a dull moment in the fashion industry, and this week's Top 10 Best Dressed list proves just that. From Alessandra Ambrosio's sexy, backless, sliky sheath to Sienna Miller's figure-flaunting LBD, opportunities to celebrate the female form were snapped up left, right and centre. Nicole Richie stepped out in a molten dress with a distinct '90s feel, Mirand Kerr debuted a romantic lace number with a zesty kick and Olivia Palermo got into a 1920's frame of mind — all to our immense approval. Step right this way to see who else made the Top 10!
We could rename this the week of the Little Black Dress, after we spied numerous style-setters stepping out in the the classic wardrobe piece. Diane Kruger's sheer-panelled Thakoon number was pure perfection — classy, with a hint of sex appeal thrown in for good measure — and those silver shoes! We couldn't get enough. Also in LBDs? Megan Gale, in form-fitting leather and Rachel Bilson, who went with a rainbow twist on the classic. Then there was Jessica Alba in some of the coolest pants we've seen, visiting model Barbara Palvin in a feminine white sheath, one model in a very popular jumpsuit and more. It's all in here, click through to see it all!
Upon hearing news that Diane Kruger was kicking off the press tour for The Host, we did a little happy dance. Why? Diane is one of Hollywood's most stylish leading ladies and she never (and we mean never) disappoints on the red rug. Case in point: she chased up her tummy-baring red leather ensemble with a sexy take on the classic LBD yesterday at the LA premiere. Diane chose an embroidered and sheer-panelled Thakoon number from the American designer's A/W '13 collection, teaming the flirty look with a pair of solid silver Jimmy Choo shoe-booties. Diane was clearly in fine form on the night, making lovey-dovey eyes at beau Joshua Jackson and laying a big sloppy one co-star Saoirse Ronan. Get a good look at her killer ensemble, from every angle.
When Olivia Palermo debuts a new trend, we stand up and take notice. First, it was all about the ballet flat, with pictures of the front row beauty wearing her French Sole faves around NYC complete with boyfriend in tow doing the rounds more than once or twice. Then, it was her cat's-eye frames, which she worked with everything from Valentino lace to beach-side bikinis with equal aplomb. And now? We're zoning in on the fact that Olivia wears her trousers in the perfect ankle-skimming length, which just so happens to elongate and flatter the curvy, lean and in-between amongst us all. Wear with barely-there sandals while the weather's still warm, or add boots or pointy-toe pumps when it's time to rug up, these ten versatile cropped trousers will see you through the trickiest of wardrobe dilemmas with ease, and Olivia-approved style. Shop now, wear forever.
Thakoon's Fall 2013 presentation included makeup and hair that made a statement — and was hard to miss. Makeup artist Diane Kendal took inspiration from the collection, which was inspired by Summer. "We wanted to reflect that in the makeup, so we did a very dark midnight blue shadow, but to get that Summer feel we added glitter on top. It created the perfect juxtaposition between Winter and Summer." As far as the hair goes, think sharp, graphic, and modern: bangs placed on half of the forehead and cut short, creating a youthful, girlish style with an edge.
Thakoon's Fall 2013 collection serves as the sweetest kind of proof that not all autumnal wares need be dark and moody. It was all dandelions, dragonflies, lace, and '60s ladylike silhouettes — a veritable Fall-in-bloom situation, only to be countered with plush leopard-print boxy jackets and standout metallic loafers. From the overtly feminine pieces to the prettiest ear cuff details, Thakoon delivered a very romantic Fall '13 lineup. Take a look now, and be sure to come back for our full review.
