Katie Holmes has been a little quiet on the red carpet front lately, but I'm glad she made a special effort to attend the premiere of The Extra Man in New York today. I never know what to expect from Katie as she really does mix up her style often —it's not uncommon to see her in directional, girly and classic styles, sometimes all at once. Today she's chosen a striped Céline dress teamed with Roger Vivier black pumps. Stripes are so relevant right now so I'm loving this relaxed dress, but unfortunately the clunky shoes confuse the overall look. Wouldn't a pair of Miu Miu T-bar sandals be a much better choice? Just sayin'. I do love the fine gold jewellery she's added, though. What do you think of Katie's look today?
From Kate Moss to Olivia Palermo, there's no denying nautical stripes are a huge trend right now. We've been seeing the Breton striped top everywhere, but in this episode of Fab's How-To, Allison shows you how to wear this popular style in new ways for the warmer months ahead.
From Kate Moss to Michelle Williams to Claudia Schiffer and the girls of The City, there's no denying nautical stripes are a huge trend right now. We've been seeing the Breton striped top everywhere, but in this episode of Fab's How To, Allison shows us how to wear this popular style in new ways.
The sailor striped tee has been on high rotation in our wardrobes for a while now, but when I saw Helena Christensen rocking this puff-sleeved, nautical-inspired dress at Macy’s in New York last week I just knew I had to add it to my collection. After much stalking I found the cute knitted style at, where else, but Net-a-Porter! It's a Sonia by Sonia Rykiel dress, and while it does look like a Summery style, I'm planning to work it for Winter with black opaques and a military jacket — layered chic! This little taste of Helena can be yours too for about $297. My advice? Get it while it's hot!
City gal Whitney Port was guest of honour at the Target Rocks Red Market event in Melbourne this past weekend, sitting front row and checking out Target's stylish range of affordable fashion. Her own cute ensemble was a good mix of high-low fashion; she sported a striped Target tee with a leopard print mini and Kate Spade sequin bow heels. In typical Whitney style she finished off the look with stacked bangles and an assortment of cocktail rings. Girly and easy. Do you dig her mixed-print look?
Stella McCartney was out and about in London recently sporting a tres chic nautical-inspired ensemble. She teamed a classic navy blazer with a cute striped top and wide leg jeans. Her look was finished off with sleek black aviators and a waisted belt. I love mixing stripes with denim, it's such an easy look but one which remains timeless and polished. Wanna steal her look as much as I do? Check out similar pieces below in our gallery.
The Marc by Marc Jacobs girl has outgrown the quirky prints and youthful silhouettes she once relied on, and instead, turned to more mature stripes and knee-length hemlines as the basis of her Winter wardrobe. This collection was filled with military-style basics including a sea of army green jackets, canvas satchel bags, utility shorts and cotton drill pants.
Zippers were the detail of choice, featuring on pants, jackets and pockets, while brown and leather belts kept everything in place. The menswear mirrored the womens range, with checks, thick striped knits, and surplus-style jackets looking equally as impressive for both sexes. As a whole, this collection can seem a little same, same, but delve a little deeper and I'll guarantee you'll be hooked on these overhauled wardrobe staples. I certainly am.
You saw Chanel Iman DJ at the Sonya Rykiel for H&M knitwear launch party last week, and now, we have the goods for you, piece by piece. The palette consists of black, yellow, hot pink, and baby pink; stripes are aplenty, rhinestone studs sparkly. Frilly dresses, classic cardis, cuffed shorts, and platform shoes round out the rest. I know this is a bit of a tease, but hopefully it'll come in handy if you're planning an overseas trip anytime soon! For your viewing pleasure...
For Urban Outfitters, early Spring is all about the charming vintage girl. If you're that kind of cutie, immerse yourself in its abundance of pretty floral blouses, flirty skirts, and flowy dresses. Silk camisoles and striped bathing suits further the romantic theme. Sounds too soft? There's also a smattering of streamlined blazers, cutoff shorts, and utilitarian anoraks for the citified type. I'm especially smitten with the retro vibe and stripe detailing. Click through and start planning your online buys.
