Red alert! Natalie Portman matched the red carpet whilst promoting her new film, Black Swan, at the Venice Film Festival last night. Nat wore a Rodarte dress, which makes sense given the label also designed costumes for the movie, which boasted some heavenly draping and jewelled embellishment on the front and back.
We've always adored Target — thanks to its chic on the cheap design collaborations with hot designers like Zac Posen, Rodarte, and Stella McCartney. Next up, the house behind Alexa Chung's famed namesake bag will join forces with the chain and merch is set to hit US stores and online Oct. 10 through Dec.
Kirsten Dunst opted for an intricate, one-shoulder gown from Rodarte for tonight's event. The all-white look is complimented with pearl and lace detailing, and a pair of pointed white booties. Golly, this feels a bit saloon gal from the Wild, Wild West.
Playing into this year's American Woman theme for the Costume Institute Gala is Gap's Patrick Robinson. The VP of global design has teamed up with some stellar CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winners — like Alexander Wang and Rodarte — to dress some of our Fab faves for the illustrious Met Gala coming up next week. Being a movie buff myself, I've always enjoyed hearing about Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy's obsession with film, especially the horror genre. Here's a cool crossover: Rodarte garb in Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as rival ballerinas. We don't know many details, except the duo designed ballet costumes for the Swan Lake dance scenes.
Aussie newcomer and Alice in Wonderland star, Mia Wasikowska, attended the indie festivities in a grey dress by Rodarte. Contrasting the lighter hue are opaque black tights and simple pumps. No jewels needed since the frock says it all.
So, what did you think of the New York Fall collections? I know we're still digesting them — even though London Fashion Week is already well under way— but it was a whirlwind of fashion fun! I'm still trying to pick my top faves; Rodarte immediately comes to mind, but who else?
Be still my beating heart, those Mulleavy Sisters may be a bit kooky, but they sure know how to dazzle on the runway. I've been left speechless after viewing their Fall collection on SHOWstudio.com.
