Baking sugar-laden biscuits and muffins is so 2012. This year we've seen a surge in the low-to-no sugar movement, and our waistlines are thanking us. But the pitfalls of baking don't stop there. Fries and pasta bakes are often drenched in oil and salt — but there's always a healthy way out. If you're keen to hone your baking skills but do it in healthy style, we've got 10 essentials for you. Aprons at the ready. . .
Sometimes, flowers in bloom just won't do. Now that Spring is here we're taking things up a notch in the fragrance department, breathing new life into old favourites, unscrewing the caps off newbie perfume buys and swapping our old deodorant for a lighter, brighter scent. We asked the POPSUGAR Australia editors' to reveal what they'll be spraying during the new season, so, smell this.
Stars got into the Spring racing mood at Myer’s Spring fashion launch at Flemington Racecourse yesterday. Ambassador Kris Smith modelled menswear on the runway and posed with Laura Dundovic on the media wall. A handful of Channel Seven stars were also on hand for the lunch, including Kylie Gillies, Melanie Vallejo, Luke Jacobz and The X Factor contestant Jiordan Tolli, who performed for the crowd. Also providing entertainment was last year’s X Factor winner Samantha Jade. As for international talent, Jerry Hall was among the stars getting into the race spirit — she’s in Melbourne doing a limited season stage production of The Graduate starring as Mrs. Robinson.
Women have a bad rep for being hard to buy for, but we know it's really the gents who cause gifting dilemmas. And at the top of our too hard (to buy for) basket? Dad. So we caught up with Manchester-born Myer ambassador and (best looking) dad of the year, Kris Smith, to get some insight on what dads want for Father's Day.
Head on in to find out the cheeky male model's gift ideas, what you can wear to turn his head and to see our favourite Kris Smith runway moments . . . because, well, why not? Once you're done, shop our Father's Day gift guides.
Less than two weeks after speculation arose that she had a secret new gig, Jodi Anasta has been announced as the face of Piper, the womenswear label available exclusively at Myer. Piper, which marked its 10th birthday this year, has gained a huge following thanks to its assortment of on-trend, easy separates that come sans the hefty price tag.
As a noted style icon and all-Australian beauty, Jodi Anasta seems to us like she's the perfect representative — and it sounds like she couldn't be happier with her new role! "I’m blown away with the opportunity to be the Ambassador for Piper," Jodi says. "It’s a brand that really resonates with me and my relaxed everyday style." The model and actress is tipping vibrant prints and pretty pastels as Summer go-tos — we're tipping a sell-out season for Piper. Congrats to the happy collaborators!
Jodi Anasta was noticeably absent from the front row at the David Jones SS'13 Fashion Launch earlier this month, and now it's clear why — the model/actress has reportedly landed a deal as the face of Myer. Jodi revealed to Sydney Confidential she was working on a project with the department store, saying "I can't give you details but I'm really excited."

Myer's Spring Summer 2014 Collection Launch beauty look took its cues from Mother Nature. Kevin Murphy led the hair look with a cool combination of two runway favourites — beach waves and the wet-look. "They showed me photos of birds, glitter and scuba," Kevin says of his original mood board for the show. "They wanted to use the colour of the birds, but I suggested we make the hair look like feathers."
The makeup direction was led by Natasha Severino for Yves Saint Laurent, with a colour palette to rival the red centre. "If you look at where the [Myer Spring Summer 2014] campaign was shot, it was outback Australia," says Natasha. "We wanted to bring in the colours and the dustiness. It's a very powdery look."

The Australian style set assembled last night for the launch of Myer’s Spring/Summer 2014 fashion launch at Fox Studios in Sydney. The star of the show, Jennifer Hawkins, quickly walked the red carpet before dashing backstage to change into one of many looks she modelled in the Australian outback-themed show, which included outfits by Manning Cartell, Toni Maticevski and a bikini from her own Cozi range. Fellow Myer ambassador Kris Smith brought his girlfriend Maddy King along for the event — hit stint on the runway had him going shirtless, and he revealed to media that he prepared by “working out a couple of times a day and eating lots of protein and veggies.”
The front row boasted as much star power as the catwalk. Jodi and Braith Anasta made a stunning pair, and Jennifer’s Australia’s Next Top Model cohorts Alex Perry, Charlotte Dawson and Didier Cohen showed their support for the host. Jesinta Campbell, Lindy Klim and Samantha Jade mirrored the runway’s strong monochrome theme in white ensembles, and newly-engaged Jodhi Meares worked more of a rock chic vibe.
There was a distinct fashion flavour to our days this week, with the Witchery and Myer red carpet and runway events taking up two of our nights (and majority of our attention), and a host of new pieces coming into our line of sight. Fashion editor Jasmine and publisher Marisa hit the front row at Witchery's Spring/Summer 2013 show on Tuesday night, and last night Jasmine and health and beauty editor Alison attended the Myer SS '14 collections launch, where they went backstage and scoped top model Julia Nobis getting her makeup done. Steph, our health and beauty journalist found her perfect match at Athlete's Foot, and celebrity and entertainment editor Jess got stuck into The Bling Ring — the book version, not the film.
