Zoe Saldana has been flying high on our fashion radar. The actress and new Calvin Klein undies model never ceases to amaze us with her stellar style. In the beginning of her acting career — circa 2000 — the Dominican and Puerto Rican beauty worked the red carpet in belly-baring tops and bohemian skirts. Since then, Zoe has refined her style with a mix of sophisticated, sexy, and daring ensembles from the likes of Calvin Klein, Louis Vuitton, and Balmain. From casually sleek daywear to glamorous red carpet looks, Zoe excels in every fashion arena. Ready to stalk her style?
Louis Vuitton hosted a cocktail party on Rodeo Drive together with Vanity Fair last night with help from a few celebrity pals. Kristen Bell and January Jones both attended wearing the label, but from two different seasons. Kristen opted for a cheerful Spring '10 white and blue tie-dyed, mesh dress; while January chose a moodier, Resort '11 tailored blouse and pants look. The blonde hotties both look gorgeous, but I have to say I prefer January's sleek navy and black getup best. How about you?
Who looked the most fab in Louis Vuitton: Kristen Bell or January Jones?
We here at the Sugar office lurrrve perving on what celebs are wearing at festivals ... it's kinda reassuring ... celebs, they're JUST LIKE US. Touselled hair, low-key makeup and dressed in their civies ... none of this red-carpet fandango ... which is good because Splendour in the Grass is just around the corner and I'll need some festival geddup inspiration. Boots (gumboots, shoe boots, sandal boots etc) are always comfy and denim shorts are pretty much standard issue ... but it's the little things that maketh the outfit. Like Alexa Chung's leopard-print bag. And Sienna's natty fedora (it's a challenge to find a flattering one). I think I may need to write out a shopping list. So dear reader, who do you think is the coolest cat at Glastonbury?
This season city shorts and navy ensembles have been surfacing at multiple menswear shows, from Milan to Paris. Yet creative director Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton doesn't disappoint and delivers a collection that acts like a palate-cleanser, in that it's streamlined, clean and yet sufficiently piquant enough to have us sitting up straight in our seats, wanting ... more. So what's new? Well there's no paisley here or much in the way of florals, but in its place ... manbags aplenty and outfits for urbane globetrotters seeking a tropical holiday. Jump on the bandwagon ... Here, our 10 top looks from the collection.
If you thought Lara Stone's Spring Louis Vuitton ads were dreamy, wake up. The brand chose a precision cast of models, spanning generations, for its latest campaign. Christy Turlington, Karen Elson, and Natalia Vodianova are calmly coiffing in an old-school dressing room, each one thoroughly gorgeous in prim ponies, ladylike dresses, and luxe leather. The mood is serene and stylish and, notice, ample bosom plays a supporting role. According to Antoine Arnault, Vuitton’s director of communications, "The atmosphere was very fifties, very elegant." Shot by Steven Meisel, the period set was constructed in a New York studio. Simple, yet stunning. Agreed?
To promote her latest film The Killer Inside Me, Jessica Alba steps out of her girl-next-door-comfort zone in Genlux mag's latest fashion spread as haus frau gone bad. I can't tell you how much I covet the ridiculously sublime autumn/winter 2010-2011 pieces that Jess is sporting from the likes of Marni, Lanvin and Louis Vuitton et al. Did we say if looks could kill?
On the day of Louis Vuitton's star-studded Bond St store opening in London, two of their newest ads were banned across the UK for suggesting that the bags were hand stitched. The Avertising Standards Agency challenged Louis Vuitton about whether the bags were actually hand crafted and found that sewing machines had been used, although argued that the ads paid 'homage to the craftsmanship'. The ad in question (left) shows a seamstress stitching with linen and thread despite the fact that there are over "100 stages" in the making of each LV bag, including sewing machines.
Do you feel cheated by Louis Vuitton for implying their bags are all hand made, or is this just a whole lotta fuss for a whole lotta nothing?
There ain't no party like a LV party 'cause an LV don't stop! I'm sure that's what Coolio meant when he wrote that song. Alexa Chung hosted the Louis Vuitton Bond Street store opening in London yesterday in front of quite an impressive crowd. Joining Alexa was Kirsten Dunst, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gemma Arterton, Elle Macpherson, and a long list of other celebrity pals. The brand spanking new store is the second largest Louis Vuitton space after the Champs-Élysées and boasts artwork by the likes of Takashi Murakami and Jeff Koons.
Of course, most of the guests were decked in head-to-toe Vuitton (including the same gorgeous bow heels!), but tell me, who do you think rocked the brand best?
