There was so much buzz on social media this week that it was hard not to get swept up in the glamour of it all. Miranda Kerr showed us what her downtime looks like on set (read: much more stylish than ours), Poppy Delevingne tried blue hair on for size, and Jesinta Campbell debuted her new darker locks, to much approval from her many followers. Lara Bingle shared a snap from her shoot with a fashion magazine, and Candice Swanepoel gave us some cheek with her very candid candid — but that doesn't even touch the sides of what else we saw this week! Selfies! Perfume launches! Halloween costumes! New love! Our favourite stylish stars captured it all this week, and our Instagram feed has never looked better. One Aussie star shared a snap of her kissing her new beau, Lara Bingle gave us a good look at her stunning races headwear, Miranda Kerr dressed up with her boy Flynn for Halloween and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen launched their new perfume line. Lauren Conrad got silly with the camera (ain't she sweet?) and Jessica Gomes made us green with envy at the holiday snapshot she shared. There's still so much more to learn — come along and check out what your favourite fashion and beauty stars have been up to!
Australian fashion favourite Ellery unveiled its Spring Summer 2014 offering over the weekend at Paris Fashion Week, marking Kym Ellery's debut show in Paris. Ellery was invited to show off-schedule by the Fédération Français de la Couture du Prêt-à-Porter des Couturiers et des Créateurs de Mode.
Typically Ellery shapes were poignant in the collection, with strapless dresses and flared silhouettes strong throughout. Inspired by '70s architecture, the range's decadent theme is clear in the colour choices — claret, garnet, black, white, soft nudes and slivers of metallic. Rich textures — silk organza, metallic striped gauze, wood-grain lamé, satin foam and hand sewn netted sequins — all added depth to the sculptural sihouettes.
Kym Ellery is the third Australian designer to ever be invited to show during Paris Fashion Week, and Collette Dinnigan and Paris-based Martin Grant are the only Australians to be invited on to the official schedule over the last twenty years. But with the success of their debut collection, fingers are crossed Ellery will also be added to the official list. "Depending on their success (off calendar), they become part of the official calendar" federation president Didier Grumbach said.

Myer's Spring/Summer collection launch and campaign for 2013/14 may have been all about the outback, but thankfully that didn't stop the front row crowd from getting their glam-on at last night's VIP event. Luminous ambassador Jennifer Hawkins glowed off the runway with a dishevelled ponytail and peachy skin, while POPSUGAR Australia Beauty Awards judge Jesinta Campbell looked every inch the bombshell with newly lightened locks and barely-there makeup. Our favourite famous famous gave us many talking points this week. Top of the list? Cara Delevingne, who locked lips with another beautiful English It Girl and made sure to share the resulting pics on Instagram. Also making us sit up and pay attention? The Aussie model who took a unique approach to expressing her opinion on gun laws. . . at the 2013 Met Gala. A wild week it may have been, but it was just as stylish and beautiful as ever. Lara Bingle, Miranda Kerr and Bambi Northwood-Blyth all gave us some behind-the-scenes pics in the makeup chair, Phoebe Tonkin found her wedding dress inspiration (while another celebrity got married in black!), Jennifer Hawkins took a break on a photo shoot and Nicole Richie zoomed in on some gorgeous details (check out those nails!). There's so much to see — click through now to check it all out!
Kim Ellery is a shape-shifter of sorts — able to swing the style pendulum back to places we thought had had their time — making old look new in the process. Kim really let her formalist aesthetic shine for Spring/Summer '13-'14, presenting a collection full of sculptural shoulder shapes, plus-sized sleeves, super-flare trousers and oversised shells that sat away from the body — seemingly suspended in mid-air, floating centremitres from the figure. Proportion and texture was at play too; narrow column-shaped waistlines giving contrast to the architecturally precise flared sleeves and hemlines while fur and crocodile fabrications upped the luxe quotient. Satin waist-tied tops and jackets worn at the hips relaxed what could be an otherwise stitched-up silhouette, injecting the lineup with a glamous dose of grunge. Dainty, sparse floral prints hinted that Ellery's tough girl troupe had a softer side to show, and the teeny-tiny shorts and structured bodices would come in handy for when some (not too obvious) sex appeal was required.
- Colours: Black, white, and splashes of mustard yellow and silver.
- Trends: Minimalism, front splits, sculptural shapes, lace, sleeveless jackets and flares.
- Key Looks: Flared, printed trousers, lack and white, exagerated sci-fi shoulder shapes and fur.
- Accessories: Fine-strap sandals with nifty over-ankle flared collars and layered jewellery from Petite Grand.
Leave it to Kym Ellery to not only have the awesome model threesome that is Julia Nobis, Hanne Gaby Odiele and Ruby Jean Wilson; but she also went with a rebellious, outlaw hair and beauty look. Napoleon Perdis wanted the makeup to look milky and clean, but barely there. St. Tropez used a lengthening illuminator trick on arms and legs, while Toni & Guy Hair Meet Wardrobe channelled Joan Jett and iconic one-time model and designer, Anita Pallenberg. This is very cool, hop in.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2013 launches today, and this morning a gathering of high profile Australian fashion identities and international blogger guests was held at Carriageworks in Sydney to kick off the week-long event. Five key players in the Australian fashion industry have been paired with visiting stars as part of a NSW Fashion Ambassador program that was initiated by Deputy Premier Andrew Stoner — Lara Bingle with Jak & Jil blogger/photographer Tommy Ton, Kym Ellery with Bryanboy blogger Bryan Yambao, Romance Was Born designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales with Susie Bubble, Tuula Vintage blogger Jessica Stein with Style From Tokyo blogger Rei Shito, and RUSSH magazine editor Jess Blanch with Who What Wear co-founder Hillary Kerr.
Lara told the Sunday Telegraph of her assigned guest, “I’m a big fan of his Jak & Jil blog and I want to take him to Cafe Sydney and the MCA.” She also revealed that she postponed a trip to Thailand to be part of the program, and that she’ll be popping up at many MBFWA shows to support her friends in the fashion industry.

The seasonal David Jones Fashion Launch is always a feast for the fashion eyes, with celebrities, designers and editors sitting front row to view the upcoming wares soon-to-be on sale in store. That said, the shows are also an opportunity for our favourite Aussie girls to all out in the hair and beauty stakes, and last night at the David Jones Autumn Winter 2013 Fashion Launch was no exception. Miranda Kerr, Jesinta Campell, Megan Gale and more turned it on with everything from high buns to glossy waves and what we'd like to call a relaxed crimp... Click through to see the arrivals now.
