Beyoncé showed her support for Jay-Z when she attended the 10th anniversary party for his 40/40 Club in NYC last night. She wore a white Roberto Cavalli gown as she sipped on champagne and mingled with guests like T.I., his wife, Tiny, and Kylie Minogue, who put her legs on display in an Anthony Vaccarello minidress. Beyoncé showed her support for another friend, Kanye West, yesterday when she publicly congratulated him and Kim Kardashian on the birth of their first child. She was by Kanye's side last week when she and Jay-Z attended a listening party for Yeezus in NYC last Monday. Kanye had been touring around the country to host listening parties for his new record but had to pull out of his bash last Friday in LA when Kim reportedly told him that she wasn't feeling well and was checking into the hospital.

Jay-Z just made his highly anticipated announcement during the half-time commercial break of the NBA Finals in the US — he has a new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, dropping July 4 (no Australian release date is known at this point). This was also Jay's moment to reveal his new partnership with Samsung, which reportedly earned him a $20 million paycheck. Beyoncé Shares the Sweetest Snap With Jay-Z
Kanye West celebrated his 36th birthday at Miss Lily's with friends in NYC on Saturday night. Beyoncé Knowles wore a sexy, striped midriff-baring look to the party, which Jay-Z also attended, and the couple shared a sweet moment that they captured for Beyoncé's Tumblr account. Kanye's girlfriend, Kim Kardashian, couldn't make the trip to the East Coast for the bash, but she was represented by pal Jonathan Cheban and sister Kourtney's boyfriend Scott Disick. Also present at the dinner party was Pharrell's business partner and Billionaire co-founder Nigo, as well as rappers Busta Ryhmes and Q-Tip. While Pharrell played host for the night, and carried out a speech at one point in the night, Beyoncé and Jay-Z kept each other company during the rather low key celebration.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z kicked off their return to the Big Apple with a date night after a busy weekend abroad. The couple took the stage together at the Chime For Change benefit concert in London on Saturday. Jay's leading lady headlined the show, which helped raise funds for education, health and justice for women worldwide. Beyoncé will continue to work her stage presence as she prepares for the North American leg of her Mrs. Carter world tour, beginning on June 28 at the Staples Center in LA.

She was also joined by her husband, Jay-Z, during her live performance for the show with which she included her new song, “Grown Woman." Before taking the stage, Beyoncé posed for pictures with Salma Hayek, who serves on the committee, as well as Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini backstage at the star-studded festivities. We can't help but wonder — is she trying to put recent pregnancy rumours to rest with the image after speculation started earlier this month? Let us know what you think in the comments!
See Pictures From the World Premiere of The Great Gatsby
The world premiere of The Great Gatsby was held at the Lincoln Center in NYC today, and the film’s big stars were out in force on the black carpet. Man of the moment Leonardo DiCaprio arrived solo but his handsome co-stars Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton had their significant others with them, Jennifer Meyer and Alexis Blake respectively. Leading lady Carey Mulligan chose a strapless red Lanvin dress for the occasion, while Isla Fisher picked floral Dolce & Gabbana.
Jay-Z, who serves as executive producer on the movie’s soundtrack, was also on hand for the premiere, but his wife Beyoncé, who did a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” for the album, couldn’t make it because she’s currently on her Mrs. Carter world tour in London. Florence Welch, who also contributed a song to the soundtrack, hugged it out with director Baz Luhrmann, and when Baz wasn’t mingling with his stars he posed with wife Catherine Martin, the movie’s costume designer. Catherine worked with designer Miuccia Prada on some of the gorgeous dresses, and last night Prada threw a cocktail reception for The Great Gatsby to celebrate an upcoming exhibit of the costumes.
The Great Gatsby is one of the year’s most anticipated films after having its release date constantly pushed back. After the NYC premiere, the cast will head to France where they’ll open the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. Then they’ll return to Sydney, where a majority of the 3D film was shot, for its third red carpet outing on May 22, ahead of its May 30 release. Despite all the reports about production delays and budget issues, Aussie star Callan McAuliffe, who portrays young Jay Gatsby, tweeted this after watching it today: “I hate to overuse the phrase but I think it's necessary here... Gatsby was DAMN FANCY.”
Jay-Z Releases "Open Letter" Song to Critics — Good Song, or Bad PR?

Jay-Z released the new song "Open Letter" overnight on his website, Life + Times. The message of the song is clear — he was not thrilled that various politicians wanted to launch an investigation into his fifth wedding anniversary trip with wife Beyoncé Knowles to Cuba, which, as it turns out, was approved by the US Treasury Department. In the song, which was co-produced by his friends Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, Jay raps about his critics, "They wanna give me jail time and a fine. Fine! Let me commit a real crime."
And Jay's aggressive lyrics don't stop there. He takes on critics of his work in the sports field, too. Jay is launching a sports agency, an endeavour that necessitates him selling his interest in the Brooklyn Nets in order to take on athletes as clients. Jay's involvement with the team has been a lightning rod of controversy, with onlookers wondering what exactly he was getting out of being a minority owner. In "Open Letter," he raps, "I would have moved the Nets to Brooklyn for free, except I made millions off you f-cking dweebs." Clearly, Jay had a lot to get off his chest, and this track afforded him the opportunity to do so. We're curious what you make of "Open Letter" — is it a great song as far as you're concerned, or a bad PR move because of the message?
Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z Keep the Good Times Rolling in Cuba
Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z continued their holiday in Cuba today. They enjoyed the view from the balcony of their room at Havana's Hotel Saratoga. Both Beyoncé and Jay preserved the memory by snapping a photo, though his hands were quite full balancing a cigar. Jay's been able to indulge his passion for cigars while in Cuba, also being photographed puffing away as he and his wife of five years left dinner Wednesday at the city's La Guarida restaurant. The couple are in Cuba, a destination restricted for many American travellers, along with their mothers, Tina Knowles and Gloria Carter. The getaway coincided with Jay and Beyoncé's fifth wedding anniversary on April 4. In addition to celebrating her marriage milestone, it's also being reported that Beyoncé has been named as an honorary chair for next month's Costume Institute Gala benefit.
