The Essential Wardrobe: 10 of the Best Denim Shirts
If you were under the impression that there was only one style of denim shirt to own, it's time to think again. We've been loyal to the humble chambray version for a few years now, thanks to the resurgence of 90s style creeping back into our wardrobes, but this closet staple now comes in a few variations which can totally transform your look, and styling prowess. Not limited to the simple powers of double denim, a denim shirt can look classic when worn with crisp white, casual when worn oversized or layered, sexy when worn fitted, and office-appropriate when mixed with tailored separates. What can we say? She works hard for the money. Step inside our gallery to get updated.
7 New Ways to Wear Your Black Pencil Skirt

Watch as we put this basic to the test and style it out seven different ways — from work presentations to date-night and Sunday strolling, you'll be covered every day of the week.
Altuzarra For J.Crew: Snoop the Whole Collection Right Now
With a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund win behind him and a slew of covetable runway collections both for his namesake line and his Cut25 label, we knew when Joseph Altuzarra announced plans for a collaboration with J.Crew it would be good. To be fair, it's really good — and we're only a day short of shopping the collection for ourselves. Yesterday, we gave you a taste, but now we've got the entire collaboration for your perusal right here. Drawing on Brigitte Bardot in Saint-Tropez, Altuzarra delivers a seven-piece collection made up of gingham printed dresses and button-downs, a polished play on espadrilles, and staple striped knits. The line is available for sale on the US site as of later today, so we'll be keeping our eyes peeled (here, to be precise) to see if these standout pieces will be shipped down under. Here's hoping!
Let's Hope J.Crew Ships Their Altuzarra Collab to Oz!
CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Joseph Altuzarra's collection for J.Crew has been hotly anticipated, partly because it's been kept tightly under wraps. Until now, that is. While no official look book has been released, today we spotted the first pieces from the collection on Vogue.com. In a story about affordable French style, Vogue featured several pieces from Altuzarra's forthcoming collection. No word as yet if the fruits of this particularly fab collab will be available on the Australian-only J.Crew site, so we'll be keeping our fingers crossed and checking here, regularly. The collection is due to hit stores April 23, and collections from runners-up Pamela Love (she designed denim!) and Creatures of the Wind will hit J.Crew stores starting next month.
DIY: Create a Runway-Inspired Striped Clutch In Seconds
Bold, brilliant stripes graced the runways at Marc by Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, and J.Crew, which inspired us to create a fun DIY around this playful print! Guess What? J.Crew Are Finally Shipping to Australia!
Yes, you read that right. HOW exciting! We had a feeling that this was coming after Jenna Lyons let slip that J.Crew was expanding their international shipping to include 107 countries by March (that had to include Australia, right?) back at New York Fashion Week. Today our e-tail dreams have indeed come true, as the US chain store is shipping down under as of late this afternoon. Once limited to the options only available via Net-a-Porter and The Outnet, Aussie shoppers can now peruse the entire J.Crew line via ShopStyle Australia. To celebrate, J.Crew is offering two whole months of free shipping (and free returns) as of the 23rd of March. Top of our must-buy list? The coveted cashmere knits, preppy cropped trousers and button downs, as well as any of the snappy neon accessories that we could see Jenna herself wearing. Credit cards at the ready, things could get kinda crazy from here on in.
Peruse J.Crew's Colourful March Catalogue Plus Styling Tips!
J.Crew just released its March catalogue, shot in the picturesque mountains of Uruguay, supplying us with cute colour combo inspiration and covetable separates. As expected, the looks are perfectly styled, showcasing green sequinned skirts with purple cotton shirts, bright yellow shorts with cobalt-blue toppers, and our favourite look, silk printed trousers paired with an effortless denim button-up. Accessories featured an array of two-tone leather satchels and cute woven sandals, and if a warm vacation is set in your future, check out J.Crew's collection of sweet vintage-inspired swimwear. Read below for styling tips we culled from the collection, then peruse the slideshow to see the rest of the look book.
- Do invest in a pair of printed trousers. Dress it up with heels and a silk blouse for an evening out, or downplay the print with a white tee and oxfords for a more casual effect.
- Combine solid bright separates together, like a green skirt with an orange shirt, to create a simple yet standout look.
- We love feminine pencil skirts. Style it up with a denim button-up shirt and platform sandals for a chic office-appropriate ensemble.
