The gorgeous model-turned-actress, Freida Pinto, has been rumoured as a contender for the next Bond girl ... but for now, she's got her fingers in a lot of tasty pies (look out for her in the upcoming Woody Allen flick, You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, which is due out later this year). So what do we think of her silk, kelly-green Oscar de la Renta frock (from his latest 2011 resort collection) at the premiere of The Last Airbender, paired with Bollywood-style chandelier earrings? Are we liking, loving, or loathing, people?
Did you know celebrities get paid to sit in the front row at fashion shows? I didn't. Industry insiders have revealed that A listers such as Beyonce (who gets US$80,000-$100,000), Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (US$80,000 each) and Chloe Sevigny (US$60,000 or more) make quite the pretty penny out of, well, just sitting pretty. It seems the real top dog is Rihanna, who gets a staggering US$100,000 or more to attend. The mind boggles at how much Burberry must have spent for Spring 2010 as it had support from Agyness Deyn, Victoria Beckham, Alexa Chung, Freida Pinto, Mary Kate Olsen and Emma Watson to name a few. This is good work if you can get it, but I wonder how vital it is for the fashion brand. Do you think designers are using their money wisely with these front-row guests, or is this a little bit excessive?
We're in the midst of award season and it's now only a matter of weeks until the 2010 BAFTAs. The award show is the UK's version of the Oscars and always attracts some amazing red carpet action. Who knows what 2010 will have in store, but I'm hoping to see Carey Mulligan and Emily Blunt decked out in pure elegance. Here is a round up of some of the key stars who've attended the awards throughout the noughties.
Topshop is giving the gifts of all gifts this holiday season with its Dress Me Up initiative. The UK retailer will be offering dresses worn by the likes of Kate Moss, Freida Pinto, Scarlett Johansson and Naomi Campbell for rent. The cost? Approximately $60 per day. The selection, which also includes frocks donated from other fashion forward celebs and designers such as Olivia Palermo, Emma Cook and Christopher Kane, will then be auctioned off for sale. All proceeds will go to Age Concern and Help the Aged foundation. "Having worked with Topshop for so long, we didn't think twice about donating our dress. It's such a great cause, especially at this time of year," said Emma Cook. This is just another one for the "why don't we have this chain store in Australia" files.. To see more dresses up for auction, keep reading.
The 18th Annual Britannia awards brought out a gaggle of classy ladies. From fitted to voluminous, the following ladies radiated in their red carpet looks. Amy Adams (in Azzaro) and Minnie Driver went down the noir path, Freida Pinto showed sheer Valentino love, Emily Blunt dazzled in burgundy Basil Soda and Claire Danes worked a classy black-and-white Oscar de la Renta number. All of them are spotlight-worthy, but who's most Fab?
