Every week the POPSUGAR editors share the beauty products they are (most) obssesed with — from face oils, a unisex scent, to the perfect lip pencil, there's just some things a girl can't live without. And because it's Friday, there's no better time to stock-up on a few needed essentials that you can pamper yourself with, all weekend long. So, what exactly are the editors most coveted beauty items this week? Come see!
It's been a crazy week here at the POPSUGAR office. There's been battles with the rain, Jess had an unlpleasant trip to the dentist and we've gone in to a frenzy, in anticipation of next weeks busy fashion week schedule. So, in a bid to keep up appearances (hair, nails, teeth...), we've picked some of our favourite beauty must-haves for the whole top-to-toe body therapy experience.
It's pretty much a given that when Michelle Obama steps out wearing something, it's about to hit the fashion circuit in a big way. That's certainly the case when it comes to the black-and-silver embellished J.Crew belt she wore after her husband Barack's Inauguration on January 21. Cinching in her teen-tiny waist and adding a touch of glam to an otherwise dark and wintery look, it's pretty amazing just how much a great little belt can do. With that in mind, we've decided to do a little shopping for you and here you'll find 10 of the best embellished belts out there. They'll pull you in and add a little flair to any outfit, but best of all, you won't need to take out a loan to afford them. Click through and check them out!
We've missed you Kate! It's been a little since we've seen the Duchess out and about, but she's made up for her absence in spades — appearing twice in as many days. Yesterday we saw her in this nifty little burgundy Paule Ka skirt suit for an appearance with Will in central London, and his morning we've been treated to yet another chic ensemble from HRH, with Kate stepping out for the official launch of the National Football Centre in Burton-upon-Trent in this super-sophisticated khaki Reiss coat. Both are classically tailored pieces, but it's her on-trend palette that really impressed us. Ox-blood red and olive make a fabulous, new-season colour combo — and whilst it might feel cold-weather appropriate in Kate's heavy woolens, we think this is still well worth keeping on file for A/W 2013. The mood was set as soon as we spotted the entrance to Sydney's Horden Pavilion for last night's Myer Spring Summer '13 collection launch. A majestic landscape from South Africa's Pilansberg National Park was projected onto the face of the building, bathing it in a warm African golden glow — hinting at the savannah-inspired set inside. As the round curtain of thousands of individual ropes lifted, we were treated to a 360 degree view of Myer's new season edit. Fluid silk silhouettes, pretty pastel palettes, punchy graphic prints (often doubled-up for added visual impact) and ladylike shapes were the top-line trends, and star-of-the-show Jennifer Hawkins wore her five exits (Toni Maticevski, Ellery, Manning Cartell, Cozi by Jennifer Hawkins and Aurelio Costarella) with the practised confidence of a runway veteran. It was loud, it was big, it was fast, it was fun! Shirtless Kris Smith was really just the icing on the top of this African-themed fashion feast. We're officially looking forward to Spring. Yes, we know — it's officially one month and six days away — but ever since we hit the tipping point of Winter we've been thinking about the sartorial shift to come. Whilst it's definitely not warm enough to ditch the opaques, every new item we add to cart has a wear-now-wear-later ability. From lightweight knits to colourful accessories to separates with cross-seasonal uses, take a peek at the items the Sugar editors will be buying to bridge the Winter to Spring divide.
We've been seeing a big spike (sorry, couldn't help it) in the number of metal hair accessories out of late, and we think it is a really simple and affordable way to inject the hardware trend (think studded loafers and metal-tipped collars) into your hair and beauty look. Emma Stone rocked a gold chain headband to one of her many The Amazing Spider-Man press appearances and ever since, we've been keeping a sharp eye out for ways to get the look at home. If you're worried it's a little too edgy for you, don't be. Our top five metal hair accessory picks cater to all looks and styles, so click through to pick the one that's right for you.
It's that time again! We've put the Sugar editorial team to work this week, asking them to select their must-have items for our regular Wednesday Eds' Pick gallery. This week we've zoned in on America's finest designers to salute the Fourth of July (Independence Day) in style, so expect to see a variety of varsity-inspired knits, preppy blazers and red, blue and white detailing. Keen to take a peek? Keep calm and shop on.
When it comes to our Essential Winter Wardrobe, there's not an item that's as versatile as the humble anorak. Somehow this utilitarian topper manages to add off-duty cool factor to just about anything. Wear it with skinny jeans and gumboots on a wet day and you've got a weekend 'fit that Kate Middleton would approve of. Throw it on over a knitted sweater dress and ballet pumps and you've got a cute-as ensemble. Team with fun party frock and heels and this army surplus staple manages to look effortless, in that Kate Moss kinda way. We've found the best ten to buy now online. So, what are you waiting for?
