Crown Princess Mary of Denmark turns 41 today, and to celebrate, we're charting her transformation from regular Tassie girl to fully-fledged royalty. Somewhat surprisingly for a woman in her position, Mary switches up her style with ease, wearing her glossy locks curly, straight, up, down, with hats, crown jewels or a hair barrette for decoration. Makeup-wise she plays things a little safer, but there's no denying that she does us proud flying the Australian flag. Check out 40 of her most memorable hair and makeup looks now and tell us your fave.
Happy Birthday, Princess Mary — See Her Sweetest Royal Family Moments!
Princess Mary celebrates her 41st birthday today! The Australian beauty won the heart of Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik in 2000, when they met at the Slip Inn in Sydney during the Olympics, and she has since led a charmed and charitable life as one of Europe’s beloved royals. Mary and Frederik were married on May 14, 2004, and are now the proud parents of four adorable children: Prince Christian, 7, Princess Isabella, 5, and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, 2. To celebrate Mary’s birthday, we’re taking a look back at some sweet moments with her family — and we’re wishing her a great one!
Princess Mary Is All Smiles During a School Visit Day
Princess Mary went back to school when she visited a kindergarten class in Brøndby, Copenhagen on Tuesday. She was there to launch a Read and Play project as part of the Mary Foundation, which she established in September 2007. After being presented with flowers she mingled with the young students and participated in activities like wrapping presents. The Danish royal has had a few official duties in the past few weeks and even travelled to London for the 2012 Olympics, where she took in some events with her husband, Prince Frederik.

Snap! Pippa Middleton Steals Princess Mary's Project D Dress
If imitation is the highest form of flattery, Pippa Middleton is paying our own Princess Mary a big compliment. Kate's little sister was snapped courtside at Wimbledon men's finals over the weekend wearing the same Project D printed frock that Mary donned back in May. Dannii Monogue's label was responsible for the Princess-perfect 'Phoebe' dress, and we think this was a wise style-steal on Pippa's part. An elbow-length sleeve and ladylike knee-length skirt makes this a grown-up option, but the pretty pastel bluebird print keeps things youthful. Step inside to see how these two royal style icons made it their own.
Princess Mary's Madly Stylish May! Snoop Her Month of Killer Looks
Princess Mary has is giving Kate Middleton a run for the best on-tour wardrobe stakes, having just completed a six day trip to South Korea with husband Frederick. The Crown Princess of Denmark gave day after day of ladylike looks; mixing so-hot-right-now trends (peplums! pastels!) with classic Princess-appropriate essentials (nude pumps and prim pencil skirts featured heavily). Princess Mary and Prince Frederik concluded their Australian tour on the weekend. On Friday their itinerary took them to Broken Hill, where Mary was greeted by an excited crowd when she visited the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Frederik made a separate stop in Macarthur, where he inspected the construction of a wind farm, donning a safety helmet and vest. The Danish royals returned to Melbourne on Saturday for their last official engagements, two events for the Alannah and Madeline Foundation. During the day, Mary spoke at the launch of the organisation’s eSmart program, addressing issues such as cyberbullying. Then, in the evening, she changed into a one-shouldered gown and joined her suited-up husband for the Starry Starry Night gala ball, which was held at Melbourne’s Crown Casino. Following their official duties, Mary and Frederik made their way to Mary’s native Hobart for a family visit with their 10-month-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, and it’s reported their elder children, Prince Christian and Princess Isabella, also joined them at the tail-end of their trip for some family fun.
Mary and Frederik Put Smiles on Kids' Faces in Melbourne
Princess Mary and Prince Frederik spent a second day in Melbourne yesterday as part of their official Australian tour. One of their stops was the children’s activity centre ArtPlay in Birrarung Marr, where they looked on as kids competed in a Lego building competition. As the royals were about to leave, some of the girls ran up to Mary and gave her an unexpected hug! Mary also had the honour of christening a tugboat called Svitzer Marysville, while she stuck with her husband for more sustainable-living promotion events on their itinerary. Today they’ll be in Broken Hill before making their way to Melbourne again, and then they’ll take their 10-month-old twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine to meet with Mary’s family.
Princess Mary's Australian Tour of Style: Look by Look
We've been keeping tabs on what Princess Mary has been wearing since she landed in Australia, hubby Prince Frederik and the twins in tow, and we couldn't be prouder of our home-grown royal. We knew that Mary has a liking for keeping things simple, but elegant — and she's shown more of her relaxed but effortless style during a number of outings in Sydney. From simple sundresses teamed with her trusty coloured flats to her elegant accessories (she's loyal to Georg Jensen), to her chic all-white suit, to yesterday's flirty floral blouse, there hasn't been a look that didn't get our thumbs up. The Danish duo are still in Melbourne, where they will attend the Starry Starry Night charity ball on Saturday night. For your style-stalking pleasure we've rounded-up HRH's on-tour style (so far).
