There were two designers whose names were all over the best-dressed lists this week: Christian Dior and Prabal Gurung. Their incredible designs were seen on the likes of Nicole Kidman, Diane Kruger, Jennifer Lawrence and more this week, and we've gotta say, we're seeing some of their best work ever. Diane Kruger might be the only star who can pull off a belly-button-exposing top at a high-class Vogue dinner (and pull it off she did), and we were thrilled to see Jennifer Lawrence opt for something different after a sea of black during the awards season a few months ago. Olivia Palermo showed prints who's boss, Nicole Kidman earned her mega-star status, and Sienna Miller? Well, let's just say we're glad she's back on the scene. It may have been raining on the red carpet, but that did not stop our favourite stars from attending the premiere of The Great Gatsby at the opening ceremony to this year's Cannes Film Festival. From Carey Mulligan's sleek and streamlined Dior Haute Couture gown to Cara Delevingne's ultra-sexy body-con number from Burberry, these chic starlets weren't afraid to fete this year's fest with a level of glam that could only be surpassed by Jay Gatsby himself. Alexa Chung, Olga Kurylenko, and Marion Cotillard are the latest in a long list of fashion darlings and actresses to take Raf Simons from the runway to the red carpet. Ever since Belgian designer Simons, formerly of Jil Sander, took the reins at the legendary label, he's presented five exquisite collections. Naturally, stars like Cotillard (the face of Lady Dior) and Jennifer Lawrence (the face of Miss Dior handbags) have flocked to his jaw-dropping gowns, and we can totally see why. Simons is breathing new life into the design house by taking iconic past-collection references (think New Look from the 1940s) and updating them with a modern twist. Tom Cruise's latest leading lady, Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko, lights up the big screen in Oblivion. But the former Bond girl's high-fashion choices have also been drawing major attention on red carpets worldwide. At the most recent Oblivion premiere in Japan, Kurylenko stepped out in a gorgeous striped Dior ball gown, but she's treated us to a variety of glamorous looks on every stop of her promo tour. Jennifer Lawrence posed for the cameras as she made her way into the 2013 Met Gala in NYC today. She chose a ladylike gown by Dior — not surprising since she's one of the faces of Miss Dior — for the event, which was extra special since it was her first time attending. Jennifer shared a moment with fellow face of Dior Marion Cotillard as well as Sarah Jessica Parker on the carpet. On her way in, Jennifer stopped to chat about the decision-making process, which she says is pretty easy when you have the designer of Dior Couture giving you direction. Jennifer isn't the only Met Gala rookie to secure an invite to the bash, since Kim Kardashian is making her first appearance as well. She attended with boyfriend Kanye West, who is expected to perform at the party.
