L'Oreal Definitely Didn't Fire Aishwarya Rai

After she was conspicuously absent from its latest commercials, rumors were swirling that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Bollywood's long-reigning queen, was on the verge of being dropped from her extensive contract with L'Oreal in favor of the company's equally lovely brand ambassador Freida Pinto. Today, however, L'Oreal issued a strong denial calling the rumors "absolutely untrue" and stating that Aish was just "unfortunately unavailable for our New Year commercial shoot due to prior commitments." The company reiterated that Aishwarya will continue to be the face of many of the cosmetic giant's brands globally and in India.

The whole rumor sounds like it was designed to start trouble between Aishwarya and Freida - although it's really rather silly to suggest that there's not room for both of them at L'Oreal - but do you think there may be something else going on?

Kate Winslet and her parents arrived in Rome, Italy, on Monday, the day before her photo shoot for the DolceVita collection of Longines watches. Yesterday Kate wore sexy LBDs to join Aishwarya Rai and Lin Chi-Ling on set to pose for the new ads. Kate's famous figure has been hiding beneath period costumes on the set of her miniseries Mildred Pierce, which she filmed this Spring in NYC. The Oscar-winning actress made it pretty far in the Bikini Bracket wearing a sexy black two-piece after her split with Sam Mendes. There are rumors the two are giving their relationship another go, but for now Kate's focusing on work with family by her side.

The fun times in Cannes kicked off today, and there was no shortage of star power out on the red carpet for the opening premiere of Blindness. Co-stars Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal led the pack, and Eva Longoria and Mischa Barton were just a couple of the lovely ladies who lit up the red carpet in their brightly colored dresses. Natalie Portman looked adorable as always in her little purple number, representing the festival's jury along with Sean Penn. We can't wait to see all of our favorite stars strutting their stuff over the next week and a half - considering that the buzz started with Angelina confirming her twins, we can only imagine what other fun surprises are in store for us.
