Battle of the Aussies: Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman attended the AACTA Awards last night in Sydney, Australia, looking nothing short of stunning in their choice of statement dresses. Always one to push the style envelope, Cate donned a fiery red sequined Armani Privé gown paired with black statement earrings and patent pumps. Quite a bold ensemble, especially compared to fellow Aussie Nicole Kidman, who opted to take the ladylike route in a strapless embroidered Erdem Spring '13 dress. The light yellow hue contrasted beautifully against her skin tone and we love that she accessorized her ensemble with a pair of decadent gold and blue earrings along with chic ankle-strap sandals. Which look are you leaning towards — Cate's bold fashion statement or Nicole's ladylike look?

Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett showed support for their fellow Australian actors when they attended the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards in Sydney yesterday. Nicole walked the red carpet in a yellow Erdem dress with nude Brian Atwood sandals while Cate turned up the glamour factor in a red Armani gown. The ladies joined host Russell Crowe and AACTA president Geoffrey Rush at the event, marking the first time that all four actors — who have each won an Oscar, BAFTA, a Golden Globe, and an AFI Award — were in the same room at the same time. At the event, the Australian film The Sapphires won the biggest awards of the night, including best film, best direction, and best actor for Chris O'Dowd.

Although the official AACTA Awards took place in Australia, there was a special AACTA Awards lunch held in LA over the past weekend. At the lunch, we caught up with honoree and Aussie actress Jacki Weaver who talked about playing Bradley Cooper's mom in Silver Linings Playbook. Jacki also revealed at the AACTA lunch that her costar Jennifer Lawrence is battling pneumonia, although Jennifer pulled it together to attend the SAG Awards on Sunday.

Jennifer Lawrence is apparently battling pneumonia.

The Silver Linings Playbook actress admitted she was suffering from the flu on Golden Globes weekend and is still under the weather. Today, Jennifer's Silver Linings costar Jacki Weaver accepted the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts' best actress award in LA on Jennifer's behalf. "Poor Jen is really sick," Jacki said as she took the podium. "She really is sick. She has pneumonia." Jennifer, who already picked up a Globes honor for her role in Silver Linings, is also up for a SAG Award this weekend. No word yet on whether she'll be able to attend the show on Sunday, but we're sending Jennifer our wishes for a speedy recovery!
