Five Fab Minutes With Style By Kling's Elin Kling

Fashion week was awash in style inspiration for us.

Fashion week was awash in style inspiration for us. Not only did we sit down with Whitney Port (so doe-eyed in person), talked shop with Taylor Tomasi Hill (cue killer girl crush!) and discussed wedding dresses with Yasmin Sewell (life envy, plus some) we also had a cup of tea with blogger extraordinaire-turned-designer and all round Swedish style queen, Elin Kling. If you’re not familiar with her site Style By Kling, we suggest you do some research. Even after a long haul flight, losing her luggage, and a slew of press duties she was lovelier, tinier(!), and more stylish in person than we could have thought possible. See what Elin had to say about her latest Nowhere collection, her suitcase essentials, and on making spelling mistakes on the internet. . .

When did you start designing? And was that always the idea behind the blog? Actually no, a couple of years ago I started thinking that it would be so fun to actually have my own brand. But I knew I’m not, you know, a designer, and I got a lot of requests to do collaborations, but I thought maybe one day I am going to have my own design, so I don’t want to use my name like that. I made jokes, like, “If I’m going to do it I’m going to do it with H&M” and because, you know, that’s never going to happen. And then they asked me! And I was like, “What?!”... I was the first blogger in the world to work with H&M, and I worked with them for one year on my collection, two times a week, and I discovered it was possible to make good design, within a good price range. And that’s kinda of like where I’m from, my history. I’m from a small farm in a small city and I think I got my first designer bag, like, five years ago. So I thought it would be fun to create good design for a great price for my readers. After the H&M collection.. I was like “Wow!”

See the Most Gorgeous Makeup From Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week is always the wildest of the big four global fashion powwows (the other three being New York, Milan and London).

Paris Fashion Week is always the wildest of the big four global fashion powwows (the other three being New York, Milan and London). Fittingly, it usually has the most exciting makeup, too. This season, we're coveting the winged liner at Lanvin and the silent film star makeup from Givenchy, but we also loved the beautiful shadow at Dior, the playful eyes at Manish Arora and the stunning lip colour at Kenzo. You should judge who "won" Paris for yourself, though. See close-ups of the makeup at every show from Chanel to Viktor & Rolf now and tell us your favourite look.

Tribal Hair and White Wings at Fendi Autumn/Winter 2012

When hairstylist Sam McKnight and makeup artist Peter Philips unite, you know that something magical is going to happen.

When hairstylist Sam McKnight and makeup artist Peter Philips unite, you know that something magical is going to happen. And it certainly did in Milan yesterday as models took to the runway sporting one of our favourite looks of Milan Fashion Week so far. McKnight cited many references for the sharp, slick style he created, including Angelica Huston, tribal, the Victorian period and a nod to the '70s. He coated strands in Sebastian Gel Forte before creating twisted braids across the forehead and in pigtails. Upon Karl Lagerfeld's request to highlight the white accents in the collection, Philips painted white out towards the temple.

German Expressionism Inspires the Max Mara A/W 2012 Look

The Alberta Ferretti Beauty Looks Goes More Masculine

Famous for her floaty feminine creations, Alberta Ferretti chose to mix things up this season — when it came to the beauty look that is.
Alberta Ferretti Autumn/Winter 2012 Hair and Makeup

Famous for her floaty feminine creations, Alberta Ferretti chose to mix things up this season — when it came to the beauty look that is. Opting for a more masculine makeup palette that had an "underside of soft femininity," to it, Diane Kendal (MAC) focused on a strong brow, keep the lip natural. Redken's Guido Palau also traded in the softness of last season, creating "something a bit stronger than normal." See how this translated to the finished look now.

Dark Romance is the Key to Gucci's Autumn/Winter '12 Look

Gucci Autumn/Winter 2012 Hair and Makeup Report

Moving to Milan for our Fashion Week coverage now, Gucci was the first big show of the day with Pat McGrath (CoverGirl) and Luigi Murenu (John Frieda) working backstage to bring the beauty look to life. McGrath cited Dante Gabriel Rossetti as a gentle influence for the season ahead creating a deep red lip which was paired with long locks that hung loose, parted in the centre, with two sections being twisted back and secured with a jewelled bow at the back.
