The smoky eye is a beauty mainstay for any season, but for Spring, try it with a different shade in mind: green. The Blonds Fall 2012 runway showcased this vibrant look by mixing charcoal black with deep hunter green eye shadow. And because minimal wasn't in the vocabulary for this runway palette, MAC makeup artists applied a thick liner with red lipstick for a beauty look that was truly hard to miss. Watch the transformation unfold in today's Beauty Book.
Ask any beauty editor or makeup artist about the importance of good eyebrows and I can guarantee you they'll all say the same thing: have them professionally shaped at least once in your life, but preferably every few months. If your brow expert is good at what they do (notice my choice of words here — a brow expert is different from a beautician because they specialise in brows), you'll only need to see them every two or three months for a quick shape and possibly trim. It all depends on the length and thickness of your eyebrows. Anyway, I'm getting off track here...
Last night I was lucky enough to meet two of MAC's leading makeup artists — Nicole Thompson and Ocea Ferber — who spoke about MAC's Fall '12 makeup stories and shed some light on this season's must-have brow along the way. Curious? Keep reading after the break.

For Fall 2012 at New York Fashion Week, designers set the gold standard with gorgeously gilded pieces perfect for any glamour girl. From Prabal Gurung's liquid-looking gown to Rachel Zoe's fur-topped minidress, this precious hue was popping up all over our favourite runways. Watch our full trend report to see all the ways you'll be going for gold come A/W '12!
For colour enthusiasts, the New York Fall '12 runways were positively bursting with cool, unexpected colour blocked combos. Both Vera Wang and Marc by Marc Jacobs were drawn to super-saturated rusted brick hues offset with muted tones, while BCBG injected its downtown-chic pieces with up to four colours at a time. For the daring dresser, Diane von Furstenberg sent silky fuchsia and sky blue blouses paired with even brighter lime green and red complements. While an autumnal colour palette served as initial inspiration, designers didn't limit themselves to dark and dreary matchups. The use of neon pops and pale pastels kept the jazzed-up juxtapositions energetic and fresh — something we're definitely in want of during the cold Winter months. We're not going to lie: we probably look at shoes as much as we look at the clothes at New York Fashion Week. There's just something about a killer stiletto that makes us happier than anything else on earth. With New York's Fall 2012 collections wrapped up, we now bring you 85 styles that made their mark. Whether they were high and skinny-heeled, as seen at Peter Som, covered in pretty prints like the Manolo Blahnik collaboration with J.Crew, or menswear-inspired flats (we're looking at you Derek Lam and Steven Alan), there is plenty for us to dream about until these treats hit the shelves. Click through now to feast your eyes on some of the most amazing shoes from the past week.
If there's anything we can call ourselves experts on, it's red-carpet dresses (blowing our budgets on shoes is a close second). For A/W 2012, we saw a plethora of stunning dresses, and a select few we want to see on our favourite red-carpet celebs — Emma Stone, Rooney Mara, Michelle Williams, and Angelina Jolie, to name a few. New York Fashion Week wrapped up last week, and we're here today with a roundup of the top dresses from the NYC runways, complete with a rundown on who we want to see wearing them, and why. Let us know who you want to see!
We've been seeing everywhere around Fashion Week; but even after watching their countless turns on the catwalk, you know what our favourite way to spot a model is? In their off-duty attire, of course. It probably helps that this genetically blessed bunch spend the majority of their time around talented stylists and snooop the new collections before anyone else, but we can't help but admire their effortless style off the runway. From cutting-edge heels to one-of-a-kind pieces, these models bring their styling A-game running between shows and in their downtime. Gisele Bundchen went ultra-chic in all-black leather at Alexander Wang, Hanneli Mustaparta donned a bright blue suede Acne moto jacket on the street, and Liya Kebede went for urban-cool in a fur-enhanced ensemble which she finished off with Isabel Marant kicks at Edun. We've spent last week soaking up all the trends from the A/W 2012 runway shows at New York Fashion Week. Major American designers including Jason Wu, Joseph Altuzarra, and Zac Posen injected an exotic global vibe to the new season aesthetic, while the runways at Rag & Bone and Marc Jacobs showed us two new perspectives on layering that happened to be completely different. We saw the rise of orange, the dominance of red leather, and the return of wide belts (all the better to create those hourglass figures with, m'dear). If you're looking for the top trends of New York Fashion Week, you've come to the right place.
