Spring 2011 is going to be all about two shades, lavender and honeysuckle. The former was an overwhelming favourite on the runways in New York and London, and the latter is Pantone's pick for Colour of the Year in 2011. What does this mean for you? Well, there's bound to be loads of both shades showing up at makeup counters, and that means finding new and pretty ways to wear the colours. I've gathered up some of the prettiest, freshest uses of lavender and honeysuckle from the runways, and now I'm passing them on to you. So whether you want to look professional, edgy, or sweet, there's a look here for you and a colour variation to suit your skin tone.
For the L.A.M.B. show at New York Fashion Week, Gwen Stefani looked rocker chic wearing one seriously braided updo. With multiple skinny plaits on the sides, the style also featured fabric accents of gold and navy woven throughout. What do you think of Gwen's funky braids? Are they perfect for her hip style, or do you prefer her signature look?
New York Fashion Week wrapped up last week, but not before a handful of stars were able to head out for a last couple of shows. Sarah Jessica Parker was decked out in Oscar de la Renta to see his new presentation, and she managed to score a seat right in between the editors of Vogue. Gwen Stefani was the last to present at Lincoln Center, and even her guys from No Doubt came out to see her L.A.M.B. collection. Gavin Rossdale was spotted at the tents earlier in the day with their sons, Kingston and Zuma, but it was only their oldest who was right by the runway to see Gwen's bright prints.
Kingston, who already had a front-row experience after turning out for Edun last Saturday, was adorably perched right on Gavin's lap for the show, and both Rossdales went to town on some gum and bopped their heads to her upbeat soundtrack. Gwen came out to wave to fans, and Kingston even hopped off Gavin to join his mum for the photo op. Next up was the afterparty, where Kanye West offered his congratulations to Gwen. It was a whirlwind week of stylish times in the Big Apple, but now the action's moved over to London. Stay turned to Pop, Fab and Bella as we bring you the latest from the UK.
In honour of all the fashion fabulousness that took place in the Big Apple this week, we've decided to zone in on the front row one last time — including backstage, and Fashion's Night Out style. Rachel Bilson, Olivia Palermo, Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung, Leighton Meester, Diane Kruger, Jessica Szohr... the list is endless. Step inside to see who made the cut!
From the runway, models look calm and collected, but backstage tells quite a different story — and photog Greg Kessler was there to document it all. Candid and kooky, the faces of the runway unwind and let loose before taking the catwalk. Click through to see the model moments you didn't see at Fashion Week!
New York, I love you. I really do. That's why I'm giving you the best possible send off — with a salute to the Front Row Girls. Y'know those A-listers who added that extra element of star power and glamour to New York Fashion Week and made our job all the more fun. Already the "It" girls, like Leighton Meester, are wearing trends from the shows, so sit back and enjoy the Top 20 beauty looks from the girls on the front row . . .
WOW. What. A. Week. From Spring statement lips to barrettes (or hair slides to you and me) being back, it's been a full-on injection of glitz and glamour this NYFW. While some designers (and one Gossip Girl star) were pushing white eyeshadow, others upped the ante with sunshine yellow. But if you're feeling overwhelmed and downright confused as to what you should be wearing right now, just have a scroll through our Beauty Trends for Spring 2011 . . . Whaddya reck? Cue the sad, violin-sounding music. It's the final day of New York Fashion Week and it definitely closed with a bang, with today's runway featuring the work of Calvin Klein (hello Katie Holmes and Aussie Isabel Lucas), J. Mendel, Ralph Lauren, and the amazing Oscar De La Renta. To finish off your Fab Friday, have a stalk through New York's front row for one last time (sniff!).
And just like that, it's OVAH! New York Fashion Week has wrapped up for another year, leaving in its trail a heavy dose of '70s disco glam, crisp white, halter-necklines, candy brights and wide leg pants. Phew, what a doozy! The Spring collections have delivered some of the most wearable pieces we've seen in a long time, and we can't wait to see what London, Milan and Paris have in store for us next. Stay tuned as we follow the Spring shows all over Europe, but in the meantime, catch up on our best picks from the last shows to hit the runway in NYC!
