I must say, my whole shopping experience has changed ever since Urban Outfitters started delivering to Australia. Big call I know, but it's so nice to have another affordable international store to shop from with ease, dontcha think? It's Spring time in UO land and their new catalogue has bloomed — shall we dive in? Enter a sea of delicate offerings: ruffles, florals, khakis, cardis, dots, and stripes. There are some solid pieces, but it's mostly about quirky, colourful prints. I'm digging the breezy separates and subtle prints, perfect for our Autumn weather. Catch it all here.
BCBG Max Azria dreamt up a colourful campaign for Spring '10. Leaving all of the focus on its fantastic frocks, photographer Raymond Meier captured Anastasia Kuznetsova and Kristy Kaurova floating against a bright white background. While it makes me a tad dizzy, I like how their topsy-turvy poses complement the brand's lively mood and aesthetic. Anastasia and Kristy's legs seem to go on for days in those neon scuba-like sheaths and vibrant printed frocks. I'm convinced, are you?
We first showed you a sneak peek of Kate Moss's Longchamp bags. Now it's time to devour the official Spring ads. Here they are, in all their black and white glory. I love that, unlike many ads, each photo is taken in a new location. It keeps things interesting and gives off a totally fresh vibe. This one, with the chandelier in the background, is romantic and sexy. The shot in the car is mysterious, while the photo in bed is so sultry. I think I'm loving, how about you?
For its February issue, Interview magazine and photog Craig McDean got zany with Sasha Pivovarova in an editorial filled with psychedelic whimsy. In a spread dubbed My Space, Sasha looks like the ultimate artsy doll dripped in an array of bedazzled boleros, fluorescent tulle, and Prada's lusty crystal-embellished sandals. I'm smitten with her perfectly tangled hair, which comes complete with dusty pink highlights, and mannequin-like expressions. It's kinda creepy but still cool. If you look past the amazing artistic mess, you'll also find some sumptuous, soft skirts and embellished tops. Take a peek..
These ads were always destined to be pretty fabulous with the combination of hot French label Isabel Marant and gorge model Daria Werbowy. We love Marant's Spring collection, we love Daria, we love them boots! These images don't need much fuss — simplicity is key here. Daria's lean frame, a hot pink tunic, and a deserted landscape equals nomadic chic. Are you loving?
Doesn't the delightful model in Gucci's Spring '10 watch campaign look a lot like Miranda Kerr? The photo, which actually dates back to the '60s, is of model Veruschka and was taken from the Gucci archives and layered with an image of Gucci's new timepiece. It's a similar process to what Stella McCartney did for her Spring campaign.
There's no better way to show off the meaning of timeless beauty than with Veruschka looking so elegant and chic in her floppy hat and Gucci logo-adorned bags. The watch is pretty impressive, too. Are you feeling Gucci's old-school ads?
Alexander Wang's had a busy week. Straight off the heels of his newly launched NYC guerrilla marketing campaign, the boy wonder has released his Spring accessories and T collection online. For the upcoming season, Wang dreamt up modern mules and clogs covered in soft suede and leather. While black, camel, and taupe dominated, a pop of leopard print in a V-shaped pump added some visual flair. For handbags, the popular duffle tote reappeared in new tones of grey, camel, and leather denim, along with smaller, studded messenger bags. Even though the T line isn't part of his main collection, we couldn't resist throwing in some of our faves. You know you want more Wang . . .
For Spring, Stella McCartney left Bambi in the woods for something nearer and dearer to her heart: Lucky, her pet Dalmatian. "I love the way it’s very graphic and soft at the same time, due to its double exposure,” said McCartney when describing the photo of Lucky, which was taken by her mother, Linda McCartney, in '76. Combine that with the magical work of Fab favourite Natalia Vodianova, and photogs Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and you have a whimsical masterpiece. The opposing elements between Stella's designs and the black and white backdrop is eye catching and interesting.
Stella describes the contrast as "fashion meets reportage, mixing colour, and black-and-white. A family animal with an outside atmosphere meets studio lights, camera, action! Opposites meeting in one image, illustrating the masculine and feminine sides of the Stella McCartney brand." I kinda love it, do you?
Come Monday, Alexander Wang will plaster the streets of NYC with his first-ever ad campaign. "The [images] were originally only supposed to be posters we were going to send to editors and stores," said Wang. "But I felt the energy was much more appropriate for something like guerrilla marketing than anything too proper or formal. Because T is really the core foundation of what Alexander Wang stands for, I thought it should be something that could be much more democratic." The monochrome ad features Hannah Holman showing off Wang's super soft tees in cool stretch formations. So fresh, just like the man himself. Are you feeling it?
Earlier this month, I provided a sneak preview of Alice Temperley's diffusion line which is set to land instores and online in February.
