Zara's international April look book is rife with the kind of pieces that perfectly capture this season's breezier sensibility. That's not to say there aren't more polished styling counterparts — because there are — but if we're to forecast the month ahead according to Zara, it's looking like a laid-back affair. The floral prints, which are reminiscent of scenes stolen right off of a vintage china plate, take shape on cap-sleeved shifts, shorts sets, relaxed blouses, and pencil skirts. The quintessential blazer comes oversized with bold buttons, in a soft pastel blue tuxedo iteration, and cut in a longer double-breasted silhouette. And where there's silky texture, there's a flowing red jumpsuit, a sportier colour-blocked maxi dress, and palazzo trousers to indulge in. Zara's latest is certainly something to be inspired by, so let's hope the full collection makes it way to a Zara near you (and me!). See the complete look book here.
Party season dressing usually means lots of glitz, glamour, sequins — and the inevitable stress of getting the look just right. But what if this year you took a page out of Zara's Twelve, the latest in their lineup of look books, which streamlines holiday-themed dressing with a more unexpected collection of mainly minimalist silhouettes and a sleek black and white palette. It's a testament to the fact that less really can be more — like a pop of sparkle on a palm-sized clutch to complement an understated velvet LBD, or just a hint of embellished trim on the sleeves of your otherwise all-white party top. If you're typically more of the over-the-top party dress type, we promise these pieces make a statement where it counts — cue this seriously sexy subtly cut-out LBD. Click on to see Kasia Struss show off the rest of Zara's holiday-perfect pieces.
All year it's turned out collections that hone in on our favourite trends (at our favourite price points) — and Zara's last looks of 2012 are just as awesome. Perfectly on-point for the party season — without any festive dressing clichés here — the December line-up is a mix of black and white stripes, sophisticated houndstooth blazers, sequined minis, a touch of plaid, and a hearty helping of leather. It may not be rife with the most obvious choices for party dressing, but a printed t-shirt, statement jewels, and a blazer might just be a cooler alternative to your average Christmas dress anyway, as evidenced by look book muse Kasia Struss. They're also the kind of pieces you'll keep in rotation long after your holiday party and NYE obligations.
We think of Zara's TRF line as the younger, more casual little sister to the Spanish chain's sophisticated main line offerings, and despite the cold-weather skew, the November look book is full of off-duty essentials and versatile separates that we think we could make work for our southern hemisphere Spring. A sleeveless anorak would work a treat over a floral-print frock, the military toppers would make a cool night-time topper over tailored shorts and those Breton knits? Always in need. Zara continues its steady expansion into the Australian retail market, opening its sixth foothold in Victoria's Westfield Doncaster shopping centre tomorrow. The latest Spring/Summer collection will be waiting in-store for keen shoppers as of 9am tomorrow morning, with twice-weekly drops of new stock to keep things fresh. Keen to check it out? Well then, the extended trading hours this weekend may come in handy . . .

Behold! The latest sneak peek at what Zara has in store for us for October. This is the internationally released look book, so it won't be necessarily be the entire Australian-store drop, but it is a mighty good indication of the trends that will be heading our way and hopefully the key pieces we'll be able to nab in any one of the five Aussie footholds. Highlights for us include the bordeaux-hued leather, embellished mini skirts and camoflage-print pants. Step on in and see Aymeline Valade modelling the very latest from the Spanish chain store.
In case you needed further impetus to pop into recently opened Zara's fifth Aussie foothold in Bondi Junction NSW, take a look at this! The latest Zara TRF look book is timed for the international trans-seasonal switch to Autumn, but we're guessing (and hoping) that some of these treats make their way down under. Cue oversized leather vests, camo-print separates (that, incidentally, we did spot yesterday in-store), too-chic tweed toppers and one particularly fab floral-print bomber. It's understated, in the Frenchy-cool kinda way — Emmanuelle Alt would lap up every piece. Reason enough for us!
This morning we took a tour of the brand spankin' new Zara Westfield Bondi Junction store before the doors opened to the eager public. Awaiting us inside was all of the same on-trend product and sleek, minimalist design that we've come to know (intimately) and love from the Westfield Sydney (NSW), Bourke Street (VIC), Chadstone (VIC) and Burnside (SA) footholds, but in a single-story Eastern Suburbs location. Inhabiting the old Borders store on the ground level, the fifth Aussie oupost for the Spanish chain houses the Zara Collection, TRF, Zara Basic and Menswear collections — so Sydneysiders should stick to the city store if shopping for the little ones. We did some retail recon so that you will know exactly what to expect before heading in-store. See below for our must-know Zara WBJ facts, then take the grand tour inside . . .
- New stock deliveries arrive on Tuesday and Thursday nights — so fresh product is guaranteed on Wednesday and Friday mornings.
- The 1,100 metre store is single level, with menswear positioned at the back of the store, and change rooms at the far front.
- On opening day, the store will stay open until 9pm, and will follow Westfield Bondi Junction opening times after that.
- Keep your eyes peeled for the exclusive Zara Bondi Junction product, released especially for the store's WBJ opening.
Update: We've just had confirmation that Zara in Westfield Bondi Junction will open its doors on September 13! Get ready, peeps...
Yup! You read right. Social media was abuzz today with word that Zara will indeed be opening its second Sydney store in Westfield Bondi Junction. This will be the Spanish chain store's fourth Australian foothold, setting up shop in the old Borders site on level four in the centre court. We spoke directly to WBJ and the only opening date they would, or could, give us is 'soon.' We'll have all the deets on hand tomorrow, so sit tight! If the success of Zara of Sydney's city store, Adelaide's Burnside emporium, or Melbourne's Bourke Street flagship, is anything to go by this is big retail news. Stay tuned peeps! We'll bring you more information as it comes to hand.
Zara Chadstone opened on Wednesday of this week, making it the second Victorian store after the Bourke St flagship and fourth national outpost after the Sydney Westfield and Adelaide Burnside stores for the Spanish retailer. We haven't see it in person, but according to our sources the dual level, 1400 square foot emporium is gorgeous in that shmick, European way (figures, as the fitting were flown direct from Spain) — with a whopping 28 change rooms for the ladies. Now that's forethought! As we saw in Sydney, the flagship is currently selling a range of exclusive to Chadstone, limited edition pieces, created especially for the launch. Step inside to get the grand tour, then snoop the so-special Chadston-only offerings. Because we know how you operate, we got Zara Chadstone's opening times so you can plan your next in-store re-con.
