With the start of a new year, comes a brand spankin' new awards season. We are ready and raring to go for Thursday's People's Choice Awards, and will be covering all the frock-action live — so be sure to tune in! We love Alexander Wang's Pre-Fall 2012 collection — what a surprise! Sarcasm aside, the latest offering from New York's reigning king of cool is keeping his lust-have status high, thanks to a clever androgynous but still sexy mix of tailoring, sheer inserts and sports-inspired detailing. Peek-a-boo print dresses get toughened up via windcheater cuffs, sexy minis skirts are made utilitarian with the addition of sleeveless puffa vests, and modish panelled suiting adds structure to track 'n' field inspired separates. And the accessories, you ask? Killer. Sheer, pointy toed pumps amp up the vamp factor, skinny harness belts reign in the down-town vibe and sleek, and moulded clutches finish the job. Oh, Mr Wang! You've done it again.

Ever since we drooled over saw Jessica Gomes' Isabel Marant wedge trainers in the flesh, we've had a wee obsession with the idea of a high-fashion high-top. Since then Miranda Kerr has been snapped in a pair, Beyoncé showed off her footwork in her "Love On Top" video clip, and Jamie Chung showed us her take on the trainer trend just last week. The low-profile 'Bobby' style has been overtaken in our lust-have stakes by the pumped-up 'Willow', but there are a slew of other designers jumping on the sneaker-freaker bandwagon if you want to broaden your label horizons. A BIG congrats goes out today to Beyoncé and husband Jay Z, who welcomed into the world a baby girl. Born on Saturday in NYC,  they've named their first child Blue Ivy Carter. To celebrate the birth, we're throwing Ms B a celebratory maternity style stalk. Beyoncé proved throughout her pregnancy that a baby bump was no hindrance to her fabulous sense of style, on stage or off. When the singer unveiled her little belly at the MTV Video Music Awards back in August she picked the perfect gown to do so; a Grecian-inspired draped number from Lanvin. As the 2012 awards season ramps up (yes, already!) with the Palm Springs Film Festival, Hollywood's A-team were testing their red carpet skills, and their neutral-toned gowns were nothing short of red carpet gorgeous. Michelle Williams opted for a gilded Prada look with a gold sequined and satin cap-sleeve cocktail dress, Angelina Jolie went for simply stunning in a floor length Elie Saab nude halter gown, and The Help's Jessica Chastain channeled a retro vibe in a dark green Prabal Gurung dress and black strappy heels.
