When Jay Z announced that he and Beyoncé were embarking on a 22-day vegan challenge, he may not have been thinking about the impact the diet might have on their high-fashion wardrobes. But after a recent outing to LA's Cafe Gratitude, what Beyoncé wore to lunch, not what she ate, has become the biggest focus. That's because Bey's fur-collared Christopher Kane coat (the same one pictured above), made with real fox fur and glossed leather details, isn't exactly vegan. But we ask you, does it have to be? Surely there are vegans who embrace an entirely plant-based lifestyle, but just because you eat like a vegan, do you have to dress like one?
Christmas Day is just three weeks from today — and while most of us will be celebrating with family or friends, there are many different lunch styles that each calls for a totally different outfit. There's countless factors to take into consideration when picking what to wear on Christmas Day; eating capacity, ability to play a round of backyard cricket, and striking the right cool-yet-endearing level of festiveness. And trust us, we've considered them all! Head into the gallery to see what we're doing this Christmas, and what we'll be wearing. And no, there aren't any novelty earrings in here. . . Merry Christmas!
While we love style stalking celebrities across the globe, there's something amazing about spotting a home-grown talent taking the red carpet (or the street) by storm. And as we come to the end of 2013, internationally and at home, 20 Australian women's wardrobes really stood out, each for their own, unique personal style. But you'll have to head into the gallery to see who made the cut.
Sure, you can’t deny that Ashley Madekwe is a talented actress — any fans of the small screen hit Revenge will testify to that — but we think the American star's stellar sense of style is equally worthy of the spotlight.
While she has admitted to working with celebrity stylist Joey Tierney, Ashley also runs a style blog, Ring My Bell, that is a true picture of her personal look off the red carpet — and, needless to say, we love it. "I started my blog as an online diary," Ashley explained. "I moved to New York for a job and I kind of wanted to keep my pictures all in one place. Also, I just love style blogs and wanted to join in on the fun!"
Ashley always blends the best designer names with accessible high street finds (we’re talking Isabel Marant and Balenciaga styled with H&M) and has a knack for nabbing the styles destined for cult status. A look that is heavily influenced by her own style star Alexa Chung. "I love women that have an ease to the way they dress," Ashley told Cosmopolitan. "I think Vanessa Paradis and Alexa Chung do that very well." Well, we think you do it pretty well too Ashley!
On the red carpet, an edgy accessory, a surprising pop of colour (often delivered by her shoes), or quirky styling twist (like picking a matchy-matchy printed ensemble), are the three factors setting Madekwe apart. And with a wardrobe like that, does she have a favourite piece? Ashley Madekwe’s stylist, Joey Tierney, says “Ashley's closet go-to is her Chanel chain purse. Every girl should have one!” We couldn't agree more. Head into the gallery to check out Ashley's most amazing outfits.
A David Jones spokeswoman told Sydney Confidential that Perry's departure will make way for others. "The deletion of this brand means we can reallocate this valuable floorspace to new brand Martin Grant and to high performing brands Camilla World and Rachel Gilbert," she said. "While we wish Alex all the best we are a publicly listed company and we have a responsibility to our shareholders to delete non performing brands and to replace them with new brands or high performing brands. Our decision to exit the Alex Perry brand from our business was based on the declining sales of this brand over the past three years at a time when our Australian designer business has grown by more than 27% over this same period."
Though her route was a bit more casual than we're used to seeing from her (enforced in part by flat sandals), the daring dresser was as colourful as ever in her printed Preen column gown. Tempered with a black back, the front of her dress certainly kept our eyes busy with a floral print, stripes, and high contrast hues. Not to be outdone, her watch kept to the colourful theme with a neon band. Were you impressed with Marion's bold style?
Picture life as one of Australia's most highly-regarded fashion designers: a fast-paced, colourful whirlwind of airports, meetings, studio time and fashion weeks. That's the reality for Camilla Freeman-Topper, the creative force behind Sydney-based fashion brand Camilla and Marc.
Few Australian designers have garnered quite the following — and maintained it for ten years — as brother and sister pair Camilla Freeman Topper and Marc Freeman. Since the brand's 2003 launch at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, the design duo haven't looked back, explaining their evolution from small local label to international design juggernaut as "a carefully considered process."
The pair are participating in the Shop Small campaign, encouraging Australians to shop locally. But, don't be fooled, Camilla and Marc isn't just a hit at home, the brand is a common sight on the red carpet. "Drew Barrymore always looks beautiful in our pieces," Camilla said of her favourite celebrity to dress. A hard one to pick, considering the likes of Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth, Kirsten Dunst and Rose Byrne are all proven fans of the brand. But when it comes to her personal style, Camilla's most cherished pieces are the ones that strike a personal chord. "I have a lot of my late mother's pieces that I really adore and love."
Three months out from fashion week, we chatted with Camilla about what it takes to pull-off a show, the advice she'd give to a younger Camilla and mixing family, fashion and business. Keep reading.
On Sunday night the crème de la crème of Australian music stepped out to celebrate a year of hard work and success at the 2013 ARIA Awards — a night that has no strict dress code, inviting a cool mix of red carpet looks. David Jones supermodels Montana Cox and Jessica Gomes both looked particuarly polished, with Jessica picking a sultry Dion Lee look. Meanwhile, on the other side of the globe, It-Brits came together to celebrated the 2013 British Fashion Awards. The night wouldn't have been complete without Alexa Chung and Poppy Delevingne each bringing something totally different, but equally amazing to the red carpet. Step inside the gallery to see all the celebrities (and outfits!) that topped this week's best dressed list.
Jessica Hart, the blonde Australian beauty famous for her gorgeous gap-tooth grin and that bikini bod', was snapped shooting swimwear in
Taylor Swift — who was the headlining performer at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show — could make it as an Angel. Rumours soon surfaced that she had been fired from the lingerie brand. Victoria's Secret, however, insists that's not the case, saying "There is no truth to the rumours that Jessica Hart has been fired or that she will no longer work with the brand."she didn't think
Although it's not confirmed which brand Jessica was snapped shooting for in Miami, she is a regular face (and body!) in Victoria's Secret's swimwear campaigns, plus it's rumoured she is working on a fashion project of her own. Head into the gallery to see all the behind-the-scenes snaps of Jessica Hart working it on the beach.
Pack away your emerald accessories, ladies. That jewel tone is so 2013. The It colour for 2014? According to the hue professionals over at Pantone, it's a lovely shade of purple known as Radiant Orchid. But if your wardrobe isn't filled with lilacs and lavenders, fear not. Pantone also just released its official Fashion Colour Report for Spring 2014, complete with Dazzling Blues and Celosia Oranges. And if you're still unsure how to factor, say, a coral called Cayenne into your next outfit, New York's best designers have offered up sketches, their inspirations, and — not to complicate things — their own signature colour.
Considering it houses racks upon racks of on-trend pieces, with reasonable price tags to boot, it's no wonder that fashionistas flock to Topshop. And the celebrity world is no exception, with favourites like Erin Wasson, Mandy Moore, and Ashley Madekwe incorporating Topshop pieces into their wardrobes.
But our favourite look as of late comes courtesy of Beyoncé, arguably Topshop's most famous fan. While on vacation, the star, who recently went vegan, wore a printed bikini for an impromptu seaside photo. Grab it now — we're sure it's soon to sell out — and decide for yourself who wears Topshop best with our ultimate celebrity round-up here, in the gallery.

It's official: the stars are still flocking to Dior for their red carpet needs. Between The Hunger Games: Catching Fire's promotional tour and the recent Marrakech International Film Festival, we can safely say the fashion house is having a major moment. After all, the instant Raf Simons's first collection for Dior hit the runway in July 2012, we had a feeling his designs would become a quick celeb favorite.
Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, and Marion Cotillard were just a few of our favourites to don Simons's chic designs, which we're sure will continue to be caught under the lights of the red carpet. Check out the most stylish celebrity-approved Christian Dior looks — here in the gallery.
