This week my goal was find the energy to keep up with my busy life. You know what it's like, right? Going non-stop at work only to get home and have a million other commitments waiting for you; relationships to nurture, friends to keep up with, family functions to attend. Add to that an impending 10K running race the small thing of planning a wedding and, well, yes. You get my drift. I'm busy. And I often feel pretty flat as a result. So I hauled in the experts this week and went about documenting how I could boost and stabilise my energy levels by taking their advice. From naturopath to nutritionist, personal trainer to meditation guru — it was quite the learning curve! So . . .  did I get the spring back in my step? On my journey to a more energy-filled existence, I've hit up the usual expert-suspects: a naturopath to get my diet supplements sorted, Nike's global trainer to kick my exercise routine into shape and yesterday my diet got an overhaul thanks to nutritionist. I wanted to know what sort of alternative remedies could complement my new vitality-boosting regime. I turned to Pilates instructor, journalist and meditation guru Solveig Walkling of Mind Body & Sol, hoping she could suggest some outside-the-box ideas on how I get, and keep, that spring in my step. From spiky floor mats to Deepak Chopra, she had some interesting things to say . . . 

Forget Lanvin and Louboutin, the biggest luxury for me is sleep. My schedule is pretty hectic, a 7am start to the work-day starts, a busy social life, loads of after-work work functions, training for a half marathon, and the not-so-small task of organising a wedding — my energy levels often suffer due to my jam-packed life. I want to bound out of bed (actually, I'd settle for just not dragging myself out of bed!) and to quit snapping at my fiancé after a long day (sorry babe). My personal challenge: to nurture and stabilize my natural energy levels. After sorting my dietary supplements and mixing up my exercise routine, I was keen to makeover my diet. I quizzed Aimee Devlin, an Integrative Nutritionist and Certified Health Coach, on how I can eat my way to vitality. 

I've got a problem. I love the satisfaction of finishing a running race, but find it hard to find the energy to put in the training. I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than clocking an eight or nine kilometre run after a long day at work! You see, I've signed up for the Nike She Runs The Night 10k race in May, and am keen to try for the Sydney Blackmores half marathon (that's 21k!) in September, so I need to kick my sluggish 'tude so I can get my training back on track. I love the rush of crossing that finish line, but want to do so without getting run-down (cue viral infections and days off work) and non-existent energy levels. I went to Nike's global trainer Marie Purvis to ask her how I can avoid burnout and get that spring back in my step. See what she said!

Not only were Bella and I snooping backstage, bailing up the Stenmark boys and sitting down with Miranda Kerr — but PopSugar editor Jess was front and centre on the red carpet. It was a fashion and beauty dream-team last night, when Bella and I combined our model-stalking powers to go behind the scenes at the 2013 David Jones Autumn/Winter fashion launch. Before the celebrities walked the red carpet, before Miranda slipped into her first of many exits, before the (Veuve) champagne was served, we were on deck to scope the making of this bi-annual fashion extravaganza. We chatted with Miranda — lusting over her Ryan Storer ear candy in the process, bailed up the mega-adorable Stenmark twins, hosted a round-table discussion with Jessica Gomes, Samantha Harris and Bambi Northwood-Blyth, got the D.L on Napoleon's "2013 smokey eye" ...  and that was still hours before that brave model hopped onto her two storey-high perch above the red rug. Phew! It was hectic, but by gosh it was worth it. From the makeup den to the dressing rooms to the front row, consider this your all areas access pass. 

Ms Lopez, we must congratulate you on that hair! Jennifer Lopez works some serious tress-volume for the February edition of US Harper's Bazaar, managing to pull off the full-volumed look without veering into scary 'fro territory. A straight centre part and sleek top section keeps things modern, but the brushed out mid-lengths ramps up the glam-factor and gives the whole look a slightly '70s silhouette. We likey! The easiest way to recreate is with a set of hot rollers. Divide hair into six or eight sections — depending on the thickness of your hair — and roll up and under towards the crown, but only three quarters of the way. When cool, unroll and spray with hair spray before brushing out with a boar-bristled brush — teasing the ends slightly to finish. Flip upside down, spray again, flip back and voila! Hold on to your hats peeps, because the 2012 Victoria’s Secret fashion show is about to hit your TV screens. We’ve already seen the Angels' prep and squizzed their cute ‘n’ candid shots thanks to social media — but now, the real deal is here. Victoria’s Secret veterans Alessandra Ambrosio (in her $2.5 million dollar Fantasy Bra thanks very much), Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel and Doutzen Kroes took to the runway last month like the pros that they are, joined by fresh faces Cara Delevingne, Hilary Rhoda and Jourdan Dunn. Karlie Kloss’ new bob magically transformed into a lush mane, while Jessica Hart, Shanina Shaik and Miranda Kerr waved the Aussie flag.

As if the world’s sexiest women in lingerie wasn’t enough entertainment, Rihanna, Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber performed for the keen crowd. Navy blue is having a moment. Every second Autumn/Winter '13 showing I attend has a sea of the classic hue (cue internal fist pump). Bella too has been bitten by the navy blue bug — expounding the appeal of an inky smoky eye, just this morning. There's no way that Bella and I could not include Rachel Bilson somewhere in the Icon Kit mix, so today we're shining a light on one of the cutie patootie's best-ever looks; that 3.1 Phillip Lim rose gold short suit. Ms Bilson worked this directional look with her usual effortless style for a Vogue fête way back in June of 2009, but three years on this high-shine ensemble still has major sway with us. This week has been awash with trackside style; from Saturday's Derby Day to Tuesday's Melbourne Cup, to tomorrow's Stakes Day — it's been all systems hats, heels and horses at Sugar HQ. We'd like to introduce you to a new weekly feature: The Icons. And when I say we, I mean Bella and I. Fashion and beauty (especially in the Sugar office!) are firm friends, and when it comes to recreating an iconic look you can't have one without the other. In the spirit of stylish collaboration, we're going to recount some of our all-time favourite, made-us-go-weak-at-the-knees fashion moments — and give you the tools to pay homage to them at home. We're kicking things off with perhaps one of the greatest special-occasion celebrity looks of all time — Kate Bosworth in her feathered Prada frock and vampy lip at the 2012 Met Gala Ball. From the dress to the updo, our fashion + beauty maths will be only formula you need memorise. Ready?

Think a day in the life of a fashion editor sounds glamorous? Well, you'd be right. Sort of. In between keeping the site up to date, staying up to date with the latest range launches, interviewing celebs/supermodels/designers and flooding your Twitter feeds with fashion-news nuggets, I've got to try and stay stylish. That last bit doesn't always happen. But between my sample sale habit and well-honed online shopping skills (occupational hazard!), I have a overflowingwell-stocked wardrobe to fall back on.

This week was particularly hec-tique, with a two-day PR road show to Melbourne, new season showings to attend, the opening of the Zara Bondi Junction store, a scrumptious lunch with Collette Dinnigan and the international fashion week circuit to cover — my calendar was somewhat jam-packed. Not to mention my little sister came to stay in Sydney for the weekend, I have a black tie wedding to plan for and, oh yeah, I ran a half marathon. No biggie.

It might sound like a lot to fit on one (Fab) plate, but the fast-paced nature of online fashion game is slightly addictive. Take a peek at my week in pics, and just try to keep up!

It was a Sugar team spectacular last night at the Myer Spring Sumer 2013 collection launch with Pop, Bella and Fab on deck to soak up the fun-filled atmosphere. We bailed up The Voice's Darren Percival and Sarah de Bono, swapped vintage shopping tips with sass & bide's Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, hung out with "The Lauras" (Dundovic and Csortan) and complimented Jesinta Campbell on her killer party dress (courtesy of Manning Cartell, FYI). This week was big week of change. We farewelled BellaSugar Australia's original editor Sarah (sob) and welcomed her delightful replacement Alison (hi there!). With that came a bit of desk hopping, with FabSugar ed Ali bagging herself a sunnier spot, after all — a change is as good as holiday! PopSugar ed Jess got into the spirit of The Dark Knight Rises, Ali got up close and personal with the impressive entries to the International Woolmark Prize and (as always) we ate our weekly fill of sweet treats.
