Did you know celebrities get paid to sit in the front row at fashion shows? I didn't. Industry insiders have revealed that A listers such as Beyonce (who gets US$80,000-$100,000), Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen (US$80,000 each) and Chloe Sevigny (US$60,000 or more) make quite the pretty penny out of, well, just sitting pretty. It seems the real top dog is Rihanna, who gets a staggering US$100,000 or more to attend. The mind boggles at how much Burberry must have spent for Spring 2010 as it had support from Agyness Deyn, Victoria Beckham, Alexa Chung, Freida Pinto, Mary Kate Olsen and Emma Watson to name a few. This is good work if you can get it, but I wonder how vital it is for the fashion brand. Do you think designers are using their money wisely with these front-row guests, or is this a little bit excessive?
