If you saw Spring Breakers but were still not convinced Vanessa Hudgens was trying to shed her squeaky-clean Disney image, then feast your eyes on the trailer for Gimme Shelter. Hudgens sheds her long locks to play a pregnant teen on the run from her junkie mother (Rosario Dawson). After a pit stop at her wealthy father's (Brendan Fraser) house, she winds up on the streets. It looks pretty bleak until she meets a kindly hospital chaplain (James Earl Jones) and finds a shelter for teens where she finally feels safe and at home.
The usually glamorous Hudgens is going full Monster-style Charlize Theron for this role, and I'm very curious to see if the transition is worth it. Though her grungy look is the most interesting part of this trailer, I was really excited to see Fraser pop up as her dad. Watch the trailer after the jump.
Some of Hollywood's most celebrated Latino actors, actresses, and musicians gathered in LA last night for the 2013 American Latino Media Arts Awards, which honoured Latinos in the entertainment industry. First created in 1995, the ALMA Awards coincide with National Hispanic Heritage Month, and this year's show was co-hosted by Mario Lopez and Eva Longoria, who sported several different looks throughout the night. Honorees included Robert Rodriguez, Carlos Santana, and Rosario Dawson, who earned the outstanding commitment to cause and community award, plus Wilmer Valderrama, who was presented with the outstanding social activism award in a pre-show telecast. The live show also featured presenters like Jessica Alba, Christina Milian, and Modern Family's Rico Rodriguez. 11-year-old Sebastien De La Cruz sang the national anthem, while artists like Aloe Blacc and the group Quetzal also took the stage to perform. Take a look at some of the best the pictures from last night's special event!
The US Open has just finished in NYC, and we're looking to the stylish celebrity attendees to show us how to resist the temptation to reach for blue jeans and a team jersey the next time we hit up a sporting event. Anna Wintour even took a break from New York Fashion Week to take in tennis. (Fun fact: she wore the same dress that she wore earlier that day to Victoria Beckham's Spring 2014 show.) Other fashionable fans include Kate Upton, Miranda Kerr, Naomi Campbell, and Karolína Kurková, who all hit up this year's tennis tournament in outfits worthy of their most stylish engagements. Need further proof? See how the chic set dresses up for their favorite Summer sports.
Matthew McConaughey was joined by Rosario Dawson and Ashley Olsen for the sixth annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic in Liberty Park, New Jersey, yesterday, and POPSUGAR US was live on the scene to take in all the stars in their Summer finest. Matthew braved the sweltering heat in a three-piece linen suit and walked the red carpet with Camila Alves on his arm. While Matthew was doing interviews, Camila took a break from the heat in a shaded area and joked around with reporters. Meanwhile, Ashley stayed cool by making a beeline for the VIP tent where she picked up a yellow parasol to protect herself from the sun. Of course, some celebrities faced the sun with their trusty sunscreen — we chatted with Rosario Dawson and Lo Bosworth, who both revealed that they were wearing SPF 50 and were trying to avoid getting burnt during the match. Rosario also told reporters that while she grew up riding horses, she doesn't have much experience with polo, which she said she only knows about from watching Pretty Woman "a bunch of times."
While the event is centered around a charity polo match, it's also about style. Lo commented to us about everyone else's stylish ensembles at the event. She said, "It's the first year that it hasn't been a theme. In the past, people dressed up in '20s outfits and that kind of thing. So I'm really excited that this year it's just Summer dresses and suits because everyone looks really good." Lo also noted that while sometimes people can get into "costume" for the event, she prefers an understated spectator look. Other celebrity guests at the glamorous event included model Anne V and polo player Nacho Figueras, who had to sit the match out after he injured his leg but sent his 13-year-old son in his place for the charity game.
The 66th Annual Cannes Film Festival wrapped up on the weekend, so it's now time to have a look back at all of the beauty glamour that graced the red carpet. Things kicked off to an amazing start with stars including French beauty Audrey Tatou, Emma Watson and Carey Mulligan hitting the red carpet, but there was a few memorable stand-outs like, Cara Delevingne and Bianca Balti to Megan Gale, her fellow L'Oréal Paris ambassador Barbara Palvin that since stole the show with their bold makeup looks — tangerine eyeshadow, glossy lips, winged eyes — and perfectly styled hair. There's over 100 looks in here, so get ready, go!
January Jones, Katy Perry, and Sophia Bush made up only a fraction of the star-studded crowd at Coach's third annual Evening of Cocktails and Shopping last night. And, in effect, the brightly coloured separates, boldly printed pants, downright flirty floral dresses, and covet-worthy accessories to hit the red carpet — make that a grass-covered one — provided a surplus of styling inspiration. Whether you're more of a blazer-for-all-seasons girl (look to Nikki Reed) or partial to a colour-blocked cocktail dress moment (hello, Sophia Bush), this benefit bash certainly had enough ensembles to keep even the most finicky of style setters happy. Click on for the complete who-wore-what rundown, including looks we want to steal from Kate Mara, Hailee Steinfeld, Milla Jovovich, and Chloë Sevigny.
January Jones stepped out for Coach's third annual Evening of Cocktails and Shopping at Bad Robot's headquarters in Santa Monica last night. She made her way through the star-studded party mingling with Chloë Sevigny and Milla Jovovich, as well as a Thakoon-clad Katy Perry, Conan O'Brien, Orlando Bloom and more. Orlando was without his wife, Miranda Kerr, for the charitable night out after she made headlines yesterday for speculation surrounding her contract as a Victoria's Secret Angel.
The annual bash, which benefits the Children's Defense Fund, also brought out stars like Joe Manganiello, who had his girlfriend, model Bridget Peters, with him for the evening out. Other attendees included Kate Mara, who was accompanied by beau Max Minghella, Nikki Reed and Rosario Dawson, who greeted fellow partygoer Amy Smart with a big hug, and also found time to catch up with Ellen Pompeo.
Rosario Dawson met up with ex-boyfriend Danny Boyle to premiere their new film, Trance, in NYC last night. She was joined by her co-star Vincent Cassel as she joked around on the red carpet while wearing a stunning Bottega Veneta pink dress. Later, Rosario, Danny and Vincent headed to the premiere's after party where the actress celebrated the arrival of a pizza delivery by cheering for joy. The cast weren't the only stars who attended the event, with The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus arriving on the arm of Debbie Harry, and Girls stars Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet catching a screening of the new flick.
The premiere comes hot on the heels of the announcement that Rosario and Danny had broken up, although it isn't clear how long the couple had been dating. The two were last seen together when Rosario donned a bikini during a vacation in Barbados back in January. There are rumours that Rosario is moving on with Michael Fassbender after the two were spotted together in London over the weekend.
