Gamine cropped 'do. Subtle sex appeal. Indie industry cred. Hot-as little brother. Maggie Gyllenhaal has it all. But we have to admit we weren't all that familiar with her personal style. That is until she hit the promo-trail for White House Down. From Washington D.C. to New York, Maggie's shown off her feminine but outside-the-box red carpet MO. A monochrome peplum here, a feathered skirt there — the devil is indeed in the unexpected detail. Step this way to check our her Week in Chic!
Channing Tatum had the help of his White House Down family, including, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Joey King, when he debuted their flick in NYC yesterday. Channing was also joined on the blue carpet by his director, Roland Emmerich, best friend and producing partner, Reid Carolin, as well as fellow co-star Garcelle Beauvais, who told us that Channing was just "dreamy" on set. The crew has appeared to be having a blast on the promotional tour for the film that will be released on Friday on the US, and last night was no exception since the gang headed to a champagne-filled after party following the red carpet festivities.
New dad Channing, who welcomed his first child, Everly, with his wife, Jenna Dewan, at the end of May, has been busy promoting his latest with numerous TV appearances and parties leading up to its release (it's out Sept. 5 in Australia). Along with the premiere in NYC, he also stopped by the Late Show With David Letterman yesterday, where he explained how his newborn daughter captured his heart, saying, "I just get so excited. It's exactly what I thought it would be and more. You think you are just going to intellectually understand it, but when it happens and she looks at you for the first time — you are done." He also revealed that the name Everly was not a family name but just something his wife liked: "Jenna just heard it in her head one day."
If you're still scratching your head on how to style your new pixie cut, take a page from Maggie Gyllenhaal's book. Sebastian Professionallead stylist Thomas Dunkin shares how he created the look, and how you can nail it at home.
- To start, douse your hair with Sebastian Professional Potion 9 Lite ($41.23) to condition it and add some texture. Allow hair to air-dry completely.
- Once dry, apply Sebastian Professional Shine Crafter Wax ($36) roughly with your fingers to create an effortlessly chic bedhead texture.
- Finish hair with a mist of flexible hair spray to keep things in place without looking crunchy.

Dianna Agron led a pack of ready-for-Summer stars who attended Coach's Summer Party on the High Line in NYC yesterday. The public park was closed off for the event and filled with carnival games, like a dunk tank and fortune teller's booth. Penn Badgley attended without girlfriend Zoë Kravitz, and showed off a seriously bushy beard. Maggie Gyllenhaal also stepped out to check out the scene, as did Anna Kendrick, Kate Mara, Jessica Stam, Benjamin Walker and more. Many of the ladies made the rounds carrying pieces from Coach's new Legacy Collection. Anna is hanging out in NYC after a clip from her new movie dropped this week. The Pitch Perfect trailer came out Friday, showing Anna taking a page from Dianna's series Glee and joining an all-girls music group.
Maggie's pregnancy news was announced in November and in the following months she showed off her baby bump during walks near her Brooklyn home.
