Winter is the season of dark and metallic nails, and it seems some manicures are sticking to vampy neutrals — at least that's what it looked like in Hollywood last week. Katharine McPhee (top) adorned her nails with a shiny black lacquer, while Katie Holmes (bottom left) reached for a similar shade. And Anna Paquin (bottom right) opted for a midnight blue hue. These colours are perfect for the cooler temperatures, so whose dark Winter polish did you like best?

Combine Two of the Hottest Styles à la Katie Holmes
Can't choose between a bun and a braid? Katie Holmes couldn't seem to either at yesterday's Coach party on the High Line in New York, so she combined the two. Her hybrid style, which she adorned with two twists on either side of her head, is the perfect casual style. And it's surprisingly easy to re-create at home with second-day hair.
- Start by misting your hands down with a hold hair spray, like L'Oréal Elnett Satin Strong Hold Spray ($7.99), for extra grip. Then, twist a two-inch section above each ear toward the back of your head. Secure with bobby pins.
- Pull your hair into a ponytail at the middle of the back of your head, making sure to include the twisted sections. Secure with an elastic
- Braid your hair into two neat plaits, securing the ends with elastics. Wind each braid around the base of the ponytail, one at a time, and pin against your head. The bun shouldn't lay flat against your scalp.
- Finish with another mist of hair spray, and you're set.
Katie Holmes Lets Loose to Celebrate Summer With Naomi Watts and More
Katie Holmes, Naomi Watts and Anna Kendrick teamed up at Coach's Summer Party on the High Line in NYC yesterday. The three women were joined by Nashville star Connie Britton, Revenge's Joshua Bowman and model Chrissy Teigen as they mingled with New Yorkers at the park. Katie is currently filming her new project, Mania Days, in the city and she caused quite a stir on set a few weeks ago when she was spotted filming love scenes with co-star Luke Kirby out in public. Meanwhile, Naomi has been playing social butterfly in the Big Apple while her long-time love, Liev Schreiber, finishes up filming for his new project, Ray Donovan, in LA. Naomi hit up Stella McCartney's Resort 2014 presentation with friends Cameron Diaz and Kate Bosworth on Monday and joined forces with Sienna Miller at a charity event last week. She has big news to share today as the new trailer for Diana, her film about the life of Princess Diana, was released online.
Katie, Naomi, Connie, or Anna: Who Nailed the Summer Party Look?
Last night, Coach took over NYC's High Line for its annual Summer carnival shindig— complete with a dunk tank, jugglers, and a fortune-teller, not to mention a whole slew of celebrities in warm-weather outfits perfect for inspiring whatever you've got on your own datebook this weekend. Katie Holmes picked a pure white, Chloé one-shoulder dress, while Naomi Watts continued the casual look in a pale pink See by Chloé shirtdress and Irene Neuwirth jewels. Connie Britton kept it equally breezy in a blue skinny-strapped style. It was Anna Kendrick who went a different route, opting for a rocker look by pairing skinny jeans with a printed blouse and leather vest. Which outfit do you plan on copying?

2013 Met Gala: Katie Holmes
Katie Holmes stepped out for the "Punk: Chaos to Couture" exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a custom Calvin Klein creation. The brunette beauty kept her hair slicked back, her eye makeup dark and smoky, and as for the dress? Holmes said she couldn't say "no" to this Francisco Costa-designed gown because it was just "so beautiful." From the dramatic sweeping train to the illusion-like bodice to the circular halter-style detail, it's certainly worth a second (and third) glance. What's your verdict?
