Sandra Bullock and George Clooney have been all over the globe to promote their new, intense film, Gravity — this time showing up in NYC. The famous co-stars started their promotional tour by joking together at Comic-Con back in July, then kicked off the Venice International Film Festival in August. Then, Sandra single-handedly took Canada by storm when she swept through the Toronto International Film Festival. For today's premiere in New York, Sandra and George were joined by the ever fabulous Emma Watson and Katie Holmes.
Sandra seems to be everywhere at once these days. After her international domination, she stopped into Hollywood for her hand- and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre. And with her October cover of US Vogue, she's even in print! For now, though, let's head over to NY and see the star-studded pics from the premiere.
The 2013 Global Citizen Festival was held in NYC’s Central Park over the weekend and drew celebrities and 60,000 fans to the event. The music festival is in its second year and is linked to the Global Poverty Project, which is working towards ending extreme poverty by 2030. This year they teamed up with the Cotton On Foundation to stage the festival, which meant one of their Australian ambassadors, Lara Bingle, attended the event in the midst of shooting a new Cotton On campaign in the Big Apple. She wasn’t the only Aussie there, though, as her friend Natalie Imbruglia showed her support, as did Sam Worthington and androgynous model Andrej Pejić. Princess Mary also addressed the festivalgoers.
There were plenty more big names and acts who took to the stage to excite the crowd, including Bono, Kings of Leon, Alicia Keys, Olivia Wilde, John Mayer and Gerard Butler. When she performed her song “Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart,” Alicia dedicated it to “all the children of the world who might have to sleep with a broken heart.” To coincide with the NYC main event, Melbourne’s Palais Theatre also hosted a sister festival on Sunday with live performances from Evermore and New Empire.

Celebrities flocked to the Big Apple for New York Fashion Week, and we sure are glad they brought their smartphones with them. Now that NYFW has officially come to a close, let's look back at the best social media snaps and Instagram sightings from our favourite famous faces, including Rihanna, Katie Holmes, Kerry Washington and Jessica Alba. Katie Holmes popped up in the front row at the Michael Kors Spring 2014 runway show in NYC yesterday. She wore a colourful head-to-toe look from the brand and posed with the designer backstage before taking her seat next to actress Kate Mara. Katie isn't just at NYFW to take in shows — she also presented her own collection, Holmes & Yang, with her stylist and business partner Jeanne Yang earlier this week.
Katie has been hanging in the Big Apple while filming her latest project, Miss Meadows, and tending to her injured daughter, Suri Cruise. Since breaking her arm a few weeks ago, Suri has been sporting a tiny cast with funny messages written on it, including one from a friend reading, "No butt smacking with this!"
Katie Holmes showed off her dance moves for a star-studded soirée in the Hamptons on Saturday night. The evening, which celebrated the east end's Apollo Theater, also brought Ellen DeGeneres, Jamie Foxx, Mary-Kate Olsen, who had her boyfriend, Olivier Sarkozy by her side, and Pharrell Williams together to party it up in the Summer hot spot on Long Island. Designers Calvin Klein and Donna Karan, as well as former Secretary of State of Colin Powell, were all in attendance for the evening, which included live performances from Jon Bon Jovi, Lenny Kravitz and Pharrell.
The Hamptons have become a popular destination among celebrities, and Saturday night's bash was not the only star-studded happening in the hot spot this weekend since Gwyneth Paltrow hosted a garden party celebrating her weekly newsletter, Goop, alongside Stella McCartney, in Amagansett on Friday. Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Sarah Jessica Parker have all gotten in on the action for relaxing getaways in the Hamptons in the US Summer as well.
The Bobbi & Katie makeup palette was a dual effort between the two women. The packaging was inspired by an old journal Katie owned, and the colours were personal favorites of the actress. "I'm busy, Bobbi's busy — I don't know a woman who isn't busy, and you need that quick fix," she said. "You need the natural colours like nudes. Our objective was to do something that is very helpful to all women." The palette will retail for US$68, starting this September, and includes eight eye shadows, two Pot Rouges, and one mini eye pencil. The collaboration will also include a brush set for US$65 — we'll keep you up to date on Australian release details.
It's clear Katie isn't your average pretty face fronting a beauty brand. "She's a true partner, and she really has a feel for what women want and need," Brown said. "She has a great eye for colour and design."
Hair can be difficult to maintain, are we right? So sometimes going the extra mile and styling it to look presentable is a concept that belongs in the too-hard basket — but not anymore. Starting right now, we're running a weekly series of inspirational hair galleries, where we take hair colour and style cues from our favourite celebrities. First up in the series: vampy and mysterious brunette beauties. From Miranda Kerr's sexy waves, to Alexa Chung's rough chop, Zooey Deschanel's blunt fringe and Kate Middleton's fit-for-a-princess shine — all the dark hair inspiration you need is in here, ready to be spied on, snapped up and made your own. Are we missing any brunettes you take inspiration from? Let us know, and we'll add them to the gallery! Next week, we'll turn our attention to racy redheads we love.
