Fashion Trend: Fit-And-Flare Dresses

Hi, it's Allison McNamara. Today on Currently Trending, I'm gonna show you how to wear one of the season's most popular dress trends, the fit and flare. You saw this look for spring and summer at Dolce & Gabbana, Proenza Schouler, and Prada, and celebrities including Emma Stone, Taylor Swift and Kate Bosworth have already tried out this ladylike silhouette. So today, I'm here at Nordstrom in Santa Monica and I'm gonna show you how to wear this flattering silhouette for day or night. A really easy way to try out this fit and flare trend is to find a sun dress in this silhouette. We love chambray anything. So we chose the denim dress. I love the bustier style on top, it really adds that feminine feel to the whole look and the polka dot print is super cute. On bottom, we played off that sundress and went with white Supergas. You're not sure what Supergas are, they're like elevated sneakers. Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are also huge fans of these shoes. And then we played off that vibe and went with a floppy sunhat, perfect for daytime, protects her from the sun, and adds in some nice texture. Then to complete the outfit, lots of dainty gold jewelery, so some layered necklaces, some really cute bracelets, and a textured tan handbag. Another easy way to try out the fit and flare trend is with a top and skirt combo. What we did is we paired a really white tight tank with a fuller skirt. It really gives that hourglass silhouette that we're looking for. This skirt we love because of the cute, playful print. It's got these birds all over it. Very fun and girly and feminine. On bottom, we went with some black strappy sandals. To finish off the outfit, a blue chain bracelet, an art deco ring, and some sunglasses finish off her perfect casual weekend outfit. For our last outfit, we styled up our fit and flare for a night out. What we did is we chose this dress by Rachel Zoe. It's got this beautiful metallic pattern. It really shows off her figure being tight at the waist and then going into this fuller pleated skirt, which is very feminine. We kept this outfit very monochromatic 'cause we love the color so much. On bottom, a pair of new patent pumps to give her some height and elongate the legs. And then we kept it monochromatic with a light pink envelope texture clutch. The snakeskin really adds a nice dimension to this whole outfit. And then to finish off the look kept her accessories very minimal, choosing only a statement sparkly cocktail ring. As you can see, the fit and flare is so flattering and you can wear it for so many different occasions. Try slipping into this lady like style right now.
