Greening up your makeup bag might sound a little daunting, but if you're looking to make more eco-friendly choices, we have some advice on how to find the right Earth-friendly beauty buys for you. Sasha Plavsic, founder of the luxury natural beauty brand ILIA, gives us her green beauty tips, when you read more.
Now that you have your face glowing with this DIY face mask that we posted in honour of Earth Week, next up is an easy DIY body scrub that'll have you ready to show some skin, right now! "I'm a huge fan of coffee grounds, and not just for your morning cup, but for your body as well," explains Jessica Kernochan, founder of eco beauty brand LaLicious. "The caffeine can help diminish the appearance of cellulite, and the coconut oil will hydrate and smooth your skin to perfection."
1 cup coffee grounds
1/2 cup white or brown sugar
1 cup coconut oil
Mix all the ingredients together thoroughly. After you've washed your hair and body, massage the scrub on wet skin and rinse with warm water. Your skin will be soft, hydrated, and ready to be bared in your favourite warm-weather ensembles.
3 teaspoons canned organic pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon honey
1/2 teaspoon milk
Directions: Mix the ingredients together thoroughly, and brush onto freshly cleansed skin. Let dry 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water to reveal soft, glowing skin.

In honour of Earth Month, Josie Maran (pictured left) is rereleasing her eponymous brand's cult favourite argan oil with an added charitable element. The beauty entrepreneur even recruited some of her model pals, Petra Nemcova (pictured right) and Angela Lindvall, to design the limited-edition bottles for the line's Model Citizen campaign. Available at Sephora, through QVC, or on Josie's site from now, 10 percent of the profits from the sale of the oils will benefit the Happy Hearts Fund (through Petra's design), Healthy Child Healthy World (through Angela), and Women For Women International (through Josie). Additionally, Josie and Petra are sharing their tips for going "chicological" (that's chic, high-performing and ecological) with us. For starters, "I think using kinder, gentler, healthier ingredients overall — especially if you're wearing makeup every day — makes a huge impact on the beauty of your skin," explains Josie. See more of what the duo had to say about greening your beauty routine, when you read more.
ORGLAMIC / (or-glam-ic) / adj. / 1. A lifestyle choice; / 2. The meeting of organic and glamour; / 3. The modern-day user of organic products; / 4. A cult*; / 5. Eg. I'm Orglamic.
As more and more of us seek out an eco-chic way of life, the word organic has gone from being the sole domain of hippies to something that everyone strives to be. To reflect this, luxury organic skincare brand Grown has coined a new phrase, Orglamic, to represent the change. It comes second only to lob in terms of my favourite beauty portmanteau. Ooh fancy big word. Which is ironic considering it means combining two words to make them shorter. But I digress. Check out the latest orglamic releases from Grown. LOVE. *A lie.
Imagine a scent that moves you. Calms you. Inspires you. That scent is pureDKNY.
In a world where simplicity is scarce and we rarely take time out, pureDKNY is set to revolutionise. This is a fragrance that encourages you to find the beauty in living simply, to love, to nurture, to comfort, to be responsible and to spread goodwill.
Leading the way with packaging that has been certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, the carton is made with 100 percent renewable energy and certified forest paper, making it both compostable and biodegradable. The glass bottle is also 100 percent recyclable.
The integral ingredient in the fragrance is goodwill. The central note, a drop of vanilla in water, is sourced by predominantly female vanilla bean farmers in Uganda so pureDKNY has partnered with leading humanitarian organisation CARE International to help these women and help end the fight against global poverty. PureDKNY is determined to make a difference in the world. One drop at a time.
