Texture has been a running trend, influencing last year's Autumn/Winter ranges just as much as the more recent 2013 S/S runway shows. Everything from fur to eyelet detailing had touch-me appeal, and the latest (and perhaps most unexpected) incarnation of this 3D vibe comes to us via the comforting feel of quilting. Yes, quilting. More commonly associated with the bedding section at Bed, Bath 'N' Table, this puffed-up treatment is enjoying a high-fashion moment. Think utilitarian fabrics like leather, cotton drills or grey marle and you're on the right track. More traditional usages, like neat chain-strap bags or dainty ballet flats still cut the mustard — but it's the out-of-the-manchester-box manifestations that we're quietly crushing on.
