2013 Met Gala: Anne Hathaway

Add Anne Hathaway to the list of Hollywood good girls who ditched their usual look and embraced the Met Gala's edgier theme instead.

Add Anne Hathaway to the list of Hollywood good girls who ditched their usual look and embraced the Met Gala's edgier theme instead. The actress not only slipped into a sultry, sheer vintage Valentino gown, but she also showed off a new punky bleach-blonde hair colour — a look she says was inspired by Debbie Harry. She finished it off with eclectic rings and electric polish. So, did Anne nail it?

Good Girls Gone Bad: The Biggest Punk Transformations From the Met Gala

Today's Met Gala was all about punk, and many of Hollywood's sweetest celebrities jumped at the chance to amp up the edge on the red carpet.

Today's Met Gala was all about punk, and many of Hollywood's sweetest celebrities jumped at the chance to amp up the edge on the red carpet. While we expected stars like Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry to embrace their rock chick roots, seeing celebrities like Anne Hathaway, Taylor Swift and Allison Williams go for more daring ensembles was fun to watch play out at the bash. Anne went platinum blonde, Dakota Fanning showed off serious skin, Allison got into a goth mood, and Ginnifer Goodwin sported dramatic eye makeup for the night. The Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art never fails to bring out the big guns — after all, where else can A-list celebrities, designers, models, and fashion insiders rub elbows, in couture, in one place? For this year's Met Gala, fashion's finest converged to celebrate the "Punk: Chaos to Couture" exhibition, which will honour punk's impact on high fashion over the past three decades (and counting). 2013 Met Gala: Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway dyed her hair peroxide blonde for the Met Gala red carpet.

Anne Hathaway dyed her hair peroxide blonde for the Met Gala red carpet. In one of the more punk moments of the evening, Anne showed up with a hair colour that rendered her almost unrecognisable. A sexy smoky eye brought the Debbie Harry-inspired look to another level.

To achieve Anne's hair, celebrity stylist Sascha Breuer applied a golf ball sized amount of Wella Professionals Extra Volume Mousse to her damp hair. He then rough-dryed the hair with his fingers, sweeping the longer hair back and upwards and pulling the sides tightly back. Using Wella Professionals Bold Move styling paste, Breuer ran his fingers through the mid length and ends for a mussy texture. He finished with a mist of Well Professionals Stay Firm Finishing Spray.

Sandal Boots Sweep the Celebrity World — Are You Into Them?

Sandal boots first emerged on the Autumn/Winter 2013 catwalks, but it seems they've already infiltrated celebrity circles.

Sandal boots first emerged on the Autumn/Winter 2013 catwalks, but it seems they've already infiltrated celebrity circles. Anne Hathaway was one of the first to rock Tom Ford's black patent buckled sandal boots — which were said to be custom-made vegan — with her black taffeta Tom Ford gown at the NYC premiere of Les Misérables back in December. Rihanna rocked the same Tom Ford sandal boots in nude with a Mary Katrantzou tee and Siwy shorts during a recent night out in NYC, while Selena Gomez edged up her black trench coat with black Brian Atwood cut-out sandal boots for her appearance on the David Letterman in NYC. No doubt about it: this is an extremely difficult trend to pull off, so we give these ladies major props. Give sandal boots some thought, then tell us: are you into them?
