Inside Her Wardrobe: POPSUGAR Health & Beauty Editor Alison Larsen

One day a few years ago, I was looking inside my wardrobe and hated everything I saw.

One day a few years ago, I was looking inside my wardrobe and hated everything I saw. Nothing matched and I wasn't proud of my clothes. I used to live alone and got into the habit of buying cheap for a quick fix, and all of a sudden, it was starting to show. In one afternoon, I cleared out 80 percent of my clothes and shoes. I created a mood board and decided on my dream style. Fast-forward a few years and I like to think I'm nailing it in the less-is-more department, and that goes for the layout of my wardrobe as well. I edit it with military precision, and I'm ruthless. My accessories are the easy part, thanks to my beloved stacked engagement rings and some simple PANDORA bracelets. If you like over-the-knee boots and crazy fun amounts of makeup, you'll want to get in here.

Balenciaga Pre-Spring 2014: Back to House Basics

For Alexander Wang's first Balenciaga Pre-Spring collection, it was back to house basics.

For Alexander Wang's first Balenciaga Pre-Spring collection, it was back to house basics. In as much, he took the Paris-based staff to Spain's Basque country — Cristóbal Balenciaga's native home — where many of the label's vintage designs currently reside. With that kind of research backing the design, it came as no surprise, then, that Wang's latest is a modern update on Balenciaga's trademark silhouettes. The iconic volume and bubble skirts were toned down, giving way to double-layered dresses that hit just below the knee and soft origami folds on shirts and dresses. The collection supplied a tight edit of black, white, and grey, with all the signs of Cristóbal's structural elegance intact. Even the late couturier's scribble patterns were part of the Pre-Spring equation, showing up on boyish jackets and silk underlayers of dresses. The things Wang did see fit to inject with his signature downtown aesthetic were much more subtle. He turned phone cords (remember those?) into ankle straps on sandals, coiled bracelets, and earrings, and gave texture to lampshade-like hats, shoes, and hems with black shredded vinyl.

The Costume Institute Benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art never fails to bring out the big guns — after all, where else can A-list celebrities, designers, models, and fashion insiders rub elbows, in couture, in one place? For this year's Met Gala, fashion's finest converged to celebrate the "Punk: Chaos to Couture" exhibition, which will honour punk's impact on high fashion over the past three decades (and counting). The Whitney Museum's annual Art Party in NYC always attracts the crème de la crème of the fashion world — case in point: this style set from last night's festivities. Olivia Wilde and Lake Bell coordinated in their green printed dresses, though Olivia's Max Mara number was flowy and Lake opted for something more form-fitting. Olivia added a chunky gold-and-black House of Lavande Vintage necklace, Iwona Ludyga drop earrings, and Stuart Weitzman black strappy sandals, while Lake carried a simple black clutch and wore black slingback booties. Jourdan Dunn took a different approach entirely, stepping out in a fashion-forward white Alexander Wang dress from the designer's Spring 2013 line and matching white platform pumps. All three ladies went with statement dresses, but which one gets your vote?
