Who can forget the flirty, fresh clothes from the Spring '10 collections? Though it's starting to get nippy outside, the luscious ad campaigns have been tempting me to self-tan my legs and don a breezy dress. We've decided to entice you with a roundup of all the scintillating Spring ad campaigns as the fashion world prepares for the new season ahead. While it was hard picking a favourite, I think Alberta Ferretti and Stella McCartney jumped out at me most. Click through to choose your faves.
Just add blazer — it's the chicest way to add a relaxed feel to an evening look. Lookie here, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jennifer Aniston seem to think so. They've both been out and about this week keeping warm in their trusty blazer and evening combos. SJP looked pastel pretty in her Stella McCartney lace dress teamed with a Stella white blazer, layered necklaces and black pumps, while Jen chose a tailored Alexander McQueen black style over her Valentino metallic mini dress for the red carpet appearance of her new movie The Bounty Hunter in London last night. Both so sleek, but who rocks the blazer best?
Check out our exclusive interview with Lanvin's Alber Elbaz, who elaborated on his Fall 2010 collection shown at Paris Fashion Week. Juliette Binoche and hottie Jared Leto also chimed in — see it all now on FabTV!
Was it someone from PETA? A crazy fan? That’s the question on everyone’s lips as to who threw a stuffed toy cat at Vivienne Westwood as she walked down the runway at the end of her Paris show. Luckily Vivienne and no (real) cats were hurt in the process!
Why exactly did French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld get blacklisted from the Balenciaga show? Word around town is that some samples were sent to the Vogue offices for an editorial shoot and somehow found their way to Max Mara, where a coat was copied. Carine’s supposed hand in all this? She consults for the label. Hmm.
Stella McCartney likes to keep things in the family. Her famous dad, Paul, attended her show with girlfriend Nancy Shevell, as did photographer sister Mary. In true McCartney tradition the show ended with a Beatles song, this time being Mother Nature’s Son.
Speaking of family, that’s what Valentino’s longtime partner Giancarlo Giammetti has compared fashion to. He’s doing some damage control after his not-so-nice comments about new designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli’s January couture collection were leaked from his Facebook. Now he’s gone all parental and attended their latest show, declaring, “Sometimes in life, you don’t agree with your son or your daughter, but they are still your son or daughter ... I will always support this company.”
Karl Lagerfeld may work on a grand scale, but at least he does it quickly! The giant icebergs and glaciers he used to decorate the runway for Chanel’s A/W ’10 show — which weighed 265 tonnes, stood eight metres high, and took 35 sculptors to carve in six days — will be shipped back to Sweden now the show’s over. Au revoir!
Madonna, known for her breakthrough ensembles on and off the stage, is now part of a multi-label fashion project called MG Icon. Her first project? A Macy's youth line — targeting 13- to 25-year-olds — inspired by her daughter Lourdes Leon. “Lourdes has an incredible sense of style and her point of view on fashion has definitely been an inspiration for the line,” said Jeff Gennette, chief merchandising officer at Macy's Inc.
The collection — dubbed Material Girl — will retail from US$12 and will include apparel, footwear, handbags, and jewellery. Since it's inspired by her Mini-Me, we're guessing it'll probably include studs, faux leather, and graphic tees. Debuting in August, the range will be promoted via online and print campaigns but no news on whether the Material Mum and daughter will feature. If this sounds a little too teeny bopper for your taste, Madonna has more up her fashion sleeve including an upcoming designer sunglasses collaboration. Interrrresssting!
Yep, that's Elle Macpherson in the mix. Strange to see her amongst fashion's hot young things, but then again, it's also strange to see her back on the catwalk, (we'll get to that in another post). In the meantime, which star looked most fab at the Louis Vuitton show yesterday? Is it Elle in her Parisian chic leather pants and cardi look; Alexa in her LV tweed coat dress and black opaques; Daisy in her cute grey knit and leather skirt, or Natalia in her mega-mini printed dress and boots?
Well there goes my theory of a couple that dresses well together, stays together. Boo. Poor Lara Bingle. I get the feeling she really enjoyed having a partner who completely took on her fashion advice and style. I mean, I can't imagine Michael Clarke working a Prada suit on his own accord, can you? In fact, if it wasn't for Lara, I wouldn't even know who Michael Clarke was, let alone what he wears. Don't judge people.
This is one Australian power couple who were as famous for their wardrobes as they were their public spats. It'll be interesting to see what happens now they no longer share a walk-in. Will Lars still drive her Aston Martin in YSL heels? Will Pup burn his designer suits and flaunt his cricket whites off the pitch? So many pressing questions. I'm interested to hear your take on this. Do you think Michael will tone down his style now he no longer has a high-fashion loving partner? Or will he wave the designer flag without her?
Well I hope you like beige folks, 'cause Hannah MacGibbon offered little else for Chloé's Winter '10 collection. Filled with boxy coats, pleat-front pants, slouchy knits and the odd piece of leather and fringing, this range will appeal to the fuss-free woman who relies on classic staples.
But unlike Celine's brilliant beige offering for Spring '10, this wasn't all about minimalism and clean lines. MacGibbon made sure there was a touch of playfulness to her '70s and '80s inspired pieces. A peek of washed denim, embellished separates, and cute pussy bow detailing really saved this collection from being a little too bland. Thank goodness! It’s all about Paris this week and we’ve got Chloé Eau de Parfum 50ml (valued at $130) up for grabs.
The vibrant fragrance features notes of peony, lychee, freesia, rose, magnolia, lily of the valley, amber and cedarwood. I love the vintage inspired flacon that comes complete with a ribbon around the neck of the bottle.
All you have to do to be in with the chance of winning is share with us in the comments sectionwhich Fashion Week front row guest you've loved to stalk the most. For me it's a no-brainer — Alexa Chung of course!
